TL;DR: An effective design strategy with an efficient synthetic route to xanthene-based far-red to near-infrared dyes is reported, and a turn-off fluoride ion probe was prepared from 3C, which consisted of a silyl ester receptor.
Abstract: An effective design strategy with an efficient synthetic route to xanthene-based far-red to near-infrared dyes is reported. The dyes were prepared by the Suzuki cross-coupling of the electron-poor fluorescein ditriflate with the electron-rich boronic acid/ester-functionalized pyrrole (2C/3C) and indole (2D/3D) moieties. Upon treatment with trifluoroacetic acid, the closed nonfluorescent forms of the dyes (2C and 2D) ring-opened to their fluorescent forms (3C and 3D). The absorption maxima were 665 and 704 nm, while the emission maxima were 717 and 719 nm for 3C and 3D, respectively. The closed forms of the dyes were soluble in chloroform and acetonitrile. To test the efficacy of the dyes as probes, a turn-off fluoride ion probe was prepared from 3C, which consisted of a silyl ester receptor. The probe responded strongly to low concentrations of fluoride, carbonate, and acetate ions, weakly to phosphate ions, but not to the other halogens. Moreover, the probe can detect the minimum concentration of F- in water.

TL;DR: A green approach is reported for the synthesis of switchable xanthene-dye-appended cyclodextrins based on the coupling agent 4-(4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-4-methylmorpholinium chloride (DMT-MM).
Abstract: Xanthene dyes can be appended to cyclodextrins via an ester or amide bridge in order to switch the fluorescence on or off. This is made possible through the formation of nonfluorescent lactones or lactams as the fluorophore can reversibly cyclize. In this context we report a green approach for the synthesis of switchable xanthene-dye-appended cyclodextrins based on the coupling agent 4-(4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-4-methylmorpholinium chloride (DMT-MM). By using 6-monoamino-β-cyclodextrin and commercially available inexpensive dyes, we prepared rhodamine- and fluorescein-appended cyclodextrins. The compounds were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy and MS spectrometry, their UV–vis spectra were recorded at various pH, and their purity was determined by capillary electrophoresis. Two potential models for the supramolecular assembly of the xanthene-dye-appended cyclodextrins were developed based on the set of data collected by the extensive NMR characterization.

TL;DR: In this paper, a combination of a quinacridone type pigment and a xanthene type dye or a pigment obtained by chelating xanthenes type dye is incorporated in a toner as the colorant.
Abstract: PURPOSE:To give sharp magenta color and to enhance lightfastness resistant to discoloration due to light by incorporating a specified pigment as a colorant. CONSTITUTION:A combination of a quinacridone type pigment and a xanthene type dye or a pigment obtained by chelating xanthene type dye is incorporated in a toner as the colorant. The quinacridone type pigment, such as CI Pigment.Violet 19, CI Pigment.Red 122, or CI Pigment.Red 207, is used, preferably, in an amount of 0.2-20pts.wt., especially, 0.5-10pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. the binder resin. The xanthene type dye, such as CI Solvent.Red 49, 52, or 108, is used, preferably, in an amount of 0.2-20pts.wt., especially, 0.5-10pts.wt. based on 100pts.wt. the binder.
