TL;DR: In this paper, the up-take of irradiated aqueous solutions of xanthene dyes has been investigated by means of Warburg's apparatus, and evidence for a switchover from a D−O to a D-D mechanism is obtained from the variation of dye-concentration.
Abstract: The oxygen up-take of irradiated aqueous solutions of xanthene dyes has been investigated by means of Warburg’s apparatus, and evidence for a switch-over from a D–O to a D–D mechanism is obtained from the variation of dye-concentration. This view is supported by the photobleaching rate and the oxygen concentration effect at high eosine concentrations (∼10−4M).The quautum yields (γo2) of the consumption are estimated and it is found that γo2(D–D) is larger than γo2(D–O).

TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis of 9-alkyl-oxy or 9-acyl-oxy derivatives of xanthene, thioxanthene and acridine was reported, and a potent antinociceptive activity was confirmed for the 9-phenyl-9-propionyloxy derivative bearing an oxygen or sulfur atom in the heteroaromatic structure.

TL;DR: It is shown here that iron corroles as well as xanthene-modified and hangman xanthenium-modifiedIron corroles are redox active and catalyze the disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide via the catalase reaction, and that this activity scales with the oxidation potential.
Abstract: Iron corroles modified with a xanthene scaffold are delivered from easily available starting materials in abbreviated reaction times. These new iron corroles have been spectroscopically examined with particular emphasis on defining the oxidation state of the metal center. Investigation of their electronic structure using 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy in conjunction with density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveals the non-innocence of the corrole ligand. Although these iron corroles contain a formal Fe(IV) center, the deprotonated corrole macrocycle ligand is one electron oxidized. The electronic ground state of these complexes is best described as an intermediate spin S = 3/2 Fe(III) site strongly antiferromagnetically coupled to the S = 1/2 of the monoradical dianion corrole [Fe(III)Cl-corrole+•]. We show here that iron corroles as well as xanthene-modified and hangman xanthene iron corroles are redox active and catalyze the disproportionation of hydrogen peroxide via the catalase reaction, and th...
