TL;DR: In this paper, a cascade reaction of 2-aryloxy phenylacetylenes with phosphine oxides promoted by K2S2O8 was developed, which provided diphosphonyl xanthenes as products.
Abstract: A radical cascade reaction of 2-aryloxy phenylacetylenes with phosphine oxides promoted by K2S2O8 was developed, which provided diphosphonyl xanthenes as products. This reaction proceeds under transition metal-free and mild conditions with simple operation and good yields. The mechanistic study indicated that phosphine oxide was induced into a phosphonyl radical, and then the following double radical addition/cyclization with 2-aryloxy phenylacetylenes generated bisphosphonyl xanthenes.

TL;DR: In this article, the synthesis of 14-aryl 14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes is achieved by a simple condensation reaction between β-naphthol with aryl or alkyl aldehydes in an effective synergetic catalytic system created by combining basic bleaching earth clay and PEG-600.
Abstract: The synthesis of 14-aryl 14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes is achieved by a simple condensation reaction between β-naphthol with aryl or alkyl aldehydes in an effective synergetic catalytic system created by combining basic bleaching earth clay and PEG-600. The advantages of the present method include catalyst recyclability, superior product yield, a shorter reaction time and the avoidance of hazardous reagents. Synthesized xanthene derivatives were also screened for their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (MTCC 96) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Wild).

TL;DR: In this paper, a large volume xanthene structure group is introduced into a main chain of a polyaramide molecule mainchain and a preparation method thereof is described, which has the advantages that the operation is simple; the flow process is short; the yield is high, and the like.
Abstract: The invention relates to polyaramide with a xanthene structure and a preparation method thereof. A large volume xanthene structure group is introduced into a main chain of a polyaramide molecule mainchain. The xanthene ketone, thionyl chloride and aniline are used as raw materials to prepare the novel diamine monomer-9,9-bi(4-aminophenyl)xanthene by a one-pot two-step method. The method has the advantages that the operation is simple; the flow process is short; the yield is high, and the like; then, the diamine and aromatic diacid chloride monomers are subjected to low-temperature solution polycondensation reaction to obtain the polyaramide with the xanthene structure. The polyaramide with the xanthene structure prepared by the method has the advantages that the heat resistance, light transmission and film forming performance is excellent; the material can be dissolved into partial organic solvents, so that the processing and shaping are facilitated; the polyaramide is hopeful to be used as a novel high-performance polymer material; the potential application prospects are realized in high and new technical fields such as aviation, national defense and industry.
