TL;DR: A series of xanthone-1,4-dihydrophyridine derivatives bearing a chlorine atom in the Xanthone nucleus were developed in this article for inotropic, chronotropic and calcium antagonist properties.
Abstract: A series of xanthone-1,4-dihydrophyridine derivatives bearing a chlorine atom in the xanthone nucleus was prepared. The compounds were evaluated for inotropic, chronotropic and calcium antagonist properties. The chlorine introduction in the xanthone moiety slightly affected affinity for cardiac vs. vascular tissues improving to some extent selectivity.

TL;DR: Ten new tetrasaccharide multi-esters, watteroses A-J, and two new xanthone glycosides, wattersiixanthones A and B, were isolated from the roots of Polygala wattersii, together with 11 known compounds.
Abstract: Ten new tetrasaccharide multi-esters, watteroses A-J (1-10), and two new xanthone glycosides, wattersiixanthones A (11) and B (12), were isolated from the roots of Polygala wattersii, together with 11 known compounds (10 oligosaccharide multi-esters and a xanthone glycoside). The structures of new compounds were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.

TL;DR: In this paper, a new prenylxanthone, garcimangostanol (1), was isolated from the EtOAc-soluble partition of the ethanol extract of the pericarp of Garcinia mangostana L, along with three known compounds, namely 8-deoxygartanin (2), 1-isomangostin (3), and garcinone C (4).
Abstract: A new prenylxanthone, garcimangostanol (1), was isolated from the EtOAc-soluble partition of the ethanol extract of the pericarp of Garcinia mangostana L., along with three known compounds, namely 8-deoxygartanin (2), 1-isomangostin (3), and garcinone C (4). The structure of compound 1 was elucidated on the basis of its 1D, 2D NMR and MS data. Compounds 1-4 exhibited either significant o r moderate cytotoxicity against MCF-7, A549, Hep-G2 and CNEhuman cancer cell lines in vitro with IC50 values from 4.0 +/- 0.3 to 23.6+/- 1.5 microM by MTT colorimetric assay.

TL;DR: In this article, nine aminoalkoxy substituted benzo(b)xanthones (3a-i) were synthesized and evaluated in five human solid tumor cell lines, including Hep-G2, BEL-7402, HeLa, MGC-803 and CNE, by the MTT (2-(4,5-dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-3, 5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide) method.
Abstract: Nine novel aminoalkoxy substituted benzo(b)xanthones (3a-i) were synthesized. Their antitumor activities were evaluated in five human solid tumor cell lines, including Hep-G2, BEL-7402, HeLa, MGC-803 and CNE, by the MTT (2-(4,5-dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-3,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide) method. The results showed that most of the compounds displayed moderate to good inhibitory activities on the tested cancer cell lines in vitro, among them compounds 3a and 3h showed higher antitumor activity than the other tested compounds against most cell lines. The influences of two kinds of structural factors, i.e., the terminal amino group and length of the carbon spacers, on the anticancer activities were explored to discuss preliminary structure-activity relationships.
