Structure-Activity Relationship Studies of Xanthone and Fluorenone-1,4- dihydropyridine-5-phosphonates.

Abstract: A series of xanthone and fluorenone-1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives bearing a 5-phosphonate group were prepared. The compounds were evaluated for inotropic, chronotropic and calcium antagonistic properties. The insertion of a phosphonate group is detrimental for inotropic and calcium antagonistic activity but improves the potency and selectivity for chronotropism.

Chemical studies on new xanthone from Swertia decora

Abstract: Six compounds were isolated from the CHCl_(3) part of the extracts. Their structures were determined as 1-hydroxy-4, 5, 6, 7-tetramethoxyxanthone (swertiadecoraxanthone-I)(I), 1, 3, 8-trihydroxy-2, 5-dimethoxyxanthone (II), 1, 8-dihydroxy-3, 7-dimethoxy xanthone (methylswertianin, III), 1-hydroxy-3, 7, 8-trimethoxyxanthone (decussatin, IV), 1, 7, 8-trihydroxy-3-methoxyxanthone(swertianin, V) and tetracosanoic acid (VI), respectively. II named as swertiadecoraxanthone-II was a new compound and the others were found from this plant for the first time.

Heterocyclic analogs of xanthone: IV. Physicochemical properties of 9-oxochromeno-[3,2-d]pyrazoles, 9-oxothiochromeno[3,2-d]pyrazoles, and 8-oxodipyrazolopyrans

Abstract: A comparative investigation of the acid-base properties, the polarographic behavior, and the spectral characteristics of oxochromeno- and oxothiochromenopyrazoles, oxodipyrazolopyrans, and their electronic analogs xanthone and thioxanthone, has been performed. The difference in properties is due to the electron-accepting nature of the condensed pyrazole ring.

Synthesis and Antitumor Evaluation of B‐Ring Modified Caged Xanthone Analogues of Gambogic Acid.

Abstract: The compounds (VIII) and (XI) are screened in vitro for their antitumor activities against the A549, MCF-7, SMMC-7721, and BGC-823 cancer cell lines.
