Journal ArticleDOI
Microbial Translocation and Inflammation Occur in Hyperacute Immunodeficiency Virus Infection and Compromise Host Control of Virus Replication.
Adam J. Ericsen,Michael Lauck,Mariel S. Mohns,Sarah R. DiNapoli,James Mutschler,Justin M. Greene,Jason T. Weinfurter,Gabrielle Lehrer-Brey,Trent M. Prall,Samantha M. Gieger,Connor R. Buechler,Kristin Crosno,Eric J. Peterson,Matthew R. Reynolds,Roger W. Wiseman,Benjamin J. Burwitz,Jacob D. Estes,Jonah B. Sacha,Thomas C. Friedrich,Jason M. Brenchley,David H. O’Connor +20 more
TL;DR: The data implicates translocating microbes as amplifiers of immunodeficiency virus replication that effectively undermine the host’s capacity to contain infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Revealing fine-scale spatiotemporal differences in SARS-CoV-2 introduction and spread.
Gage K. Moreno,Katarina M. Braun,Kasen K. Riemersma,Michael A. Martin,Peter Halfmann,Chelsea M. Crooks,Trent M. Prall,David Baker,John J. Baczenas,Anna S. Heffron,Mitchell D. Ramuta,Manjeet Khubbar,Andrea M. Weiler,Molly A. Accola,William M. Rehrauer,Shelby L. O’Connor,Nasia Safdar,Caitlin S. Pepperell,Trivikram Dasu,Sanjib Bhattacharyya,Yoshihiro Kawaoka,Katia Koelle,David H. O’Connor,Thomas C. Friedrich +23 more
TL;DR: Analysis of 247 full-genome SARS-CoV-2 sequences from two nearby communities in Wisconsin, USA finds surprisingly distinct patterns of viral spread, which suggest patterns of Sars-Cov-2 transmission may vary substantially even in nearby communities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved full-length killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor transcript discovery in Mauritian cynomolgus macaques
Trent M. Prall,Michael E. Graham,Julie A. Karl,Roger W. Wiseman,Adam J. Ericsen,Muthuswamy Raveendran,R. Alan Harris,Donna M. Muzny,Richard A. Gibbs,Jeffrey Rogers,David H. O’Connor +10 more
TL;DR: A high throughput, full-length allele discovery method utilizing Pacific Biosciences circular consensus sequencing (CCS) and a new approach to Macaque Exome Sequencing (MES) and the development of the Rhexome1.0, an adapted target capture reagent that includes macaque-specific capture probe sets are described.
Posted ContentDOI
Limited SARS-CoV-2 diversity within hosts and following passage in cell culture
Gage K. Moreno,Katarina M. Braun,Peter Halfmann,Trent M. Prall,Kasen K. Riemersma,Amelia K. Haj,Lalli J,Kelsey Florek,Yoshihiro Kawaoka,Thomas C. Friedrich,David H. O’Connor +10 more
TL;DR: It is shown that SARS-CoV-2 consensus sequences can remain stable through at least two serial passages on Vero 76 cells, suggesting Sars-Cov-2 can be propagated in cell culture in preparation for in-vitro and in- vivo studies without dramatic alterations of its genotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of 100 extended major histocompatibility complex haplotypes in Indonesian cynomolgus macaques.
Cecilia G. Shortreed,Roger W. Wiseman,Julie A. Karl,Hailey E. Bussan,David A. Baker,Trent M. Prall,Amelia K. Haj,Gage K. Moreno,Maria Cecilia T. Penedo,David H. O’Connor +9 more
TL;DR: Sequencing analyses and haplotype definitions improve the utility of cynomolgus macaques for transplantation studies as well as infectious disease and vaccine research.
