Effectiveness of an air-curtain canopy against precipitation

TL;DR: In this paper, experimental and numerical simulations were performed for a horizontal air-curtain jet roof in order to determine its effective protection against precipitation, and small-scale wind-tunnel experiments, using glass beads as precipitation material, yielded results which led to the conclusiom that Froude scaling of the terminal velocities of the particles is not a sufficient criterion for proper simulation; one must also match model and fullscale precipitation Reynolds numbers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Annular air-curtain domes for sports stadia

TL;DR: In this article, the performance of annular air-curtains as protective barriers against precipitation was investigated experimentally using a 60 cm diameter laboratory model and a 6 m diameter outdoor test facility.
Journal ArticleDOI

Performance of adjacent dual-jet air-curtain roofs

TL;DR: In this paper, numerical simulations have been performed to evaluate the extent of protection against precipitation provided by various configurations of adjacent co-flowing parallel dual-jet air-curtain roofs.
