Journal ArticleDOI

Therapy of lupus nephritis. Controlled trial of prednisone and cytotoxic drugs.

TL;DR: It is concluded that, as compared with high-dose oral prednisone alone, treatment of lupus glomerulonephritis with intravenous cyclophosphamide reduces the risk of end-stage renal failure with few serious complications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Controlled trial of pulse methylprednisolone versus two regimens of pulse cyclophosphamide in severe lupus nephritis

TL;DR: An extended course of pulse cyclophosphamide is more effective than 6 months of pulse methylprednisolone in preserving renal function in patients with severe lupus nephritis, and addition of a quarterly maintenance regimen to monthly pulse cyclophileosphamide reduces the rate of exacerbations.
Journal Article

Effects of thymectomy or androgen administration upon the autoimmune disease of MRL/Mp-lpr/lpr mice.

TL;DR: It is suggested that different T cell abnormalities may underlie the development of autoimmunity in MRL/lpr and NZB X NZW F1 mice, but that disease may be expressed through a common androgen-sensitive pathway.
Journal Article

Cytokine gene expression after in vivo primary immunization with goat antibody to mouse IgD antibody.

TL;DR: The results demonstrate a specific and highly reproducible cytokine gene expression pattern during the course of a primary in vivo immune response that is marked by an absence of a clear-cut Th1/Th2 dichotomy.
