Journal ArticleDOI
Epicardial fat thickness significantly decreases after short-term growth hormone (GH) replacement therapy in adults with GH deficiency
Emanuele Ferrante,A.E. Malavazos,Claudia Giavoli,F. Ermetici,Calin Coman,Silvia Bergamaschi,Eriselda Profka,S. Briganti,C.L. Ronchi,Elena Passeri,Sabrina Corbetta,Andrea Lania,Anna Spada,Gianluca Iacobellis,Bruno Ambrosi,Paolo Beck-Peccoz +15 more
TL;DR: Echocardiographic epicardial fat thickness may represent a valuable and easy marker of visceral fat and visceral fat changes during rhGH replacement treatment in patients with adult-onset growth hormone deficiency.
Journal ArticleDOI
IL-18 level in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting surgery or valve replacement : which link with epicardial fat depot?
Elena Dozio,Giada Dogliotti,A.E. Malavazos,Francesco Bandera,G. Cassetti,Elena Vianello,Roberta Zelaschi,Alessandra Barassi,G. Pellissero,Umberto Solimene,Lelio Morricone,Alexander Sigruener,Victoria Tarabin,Gerd Schmitz,Lorenzo Menicanti,M.M. Corsi Romanelli +15 more
TL;DR: It is found that all cardiovascular patients (CABG and VR) have increased circulating IL-18 level compared to healthy control subjects, but in EAT depots isolated from CABG gene expression of IL- 18,IL-18 R1 and IL-17-RAP resulted higher than in VR patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimated glomerular filtration rate by serum cystatin C correlates with cardiometabolic parameters in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism.
F. Ermetici,Marcello Filopanti,Uberta Verga,Elena Passeri,Giorgia Dito,A.E. Malavazos,Chiara Mapelli,Maria Elisabetta Raggi,Anna Spada,Sabrina Corbetta +9 more
TL;DR: Elevated Cys-C levels were associated with ionized calcium, cardiometabolic risk factors and CVD, and identified preclinical CKD in PHPT patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Body mass index stratification in hospitalized Italian adults with congenital heart disease in relation to complexity, diagnosis, sex and age.
A.E. Malavazos,Gloria Capitanio,M. Chessa,Irene A. Matelloni,Valentina Milani,Elisabetta Stella,L. F. Al Kassem,Francesca M. Sironi,Sara Boveri,A. Giamberti,M. Masocco,M. Ranucci,Lorenzo Menicanti,Lelio Morricone +13 more
TL;DR: A future aim will be to quantify the visceral component of the adipose tissue in ACHD patients and examine their body composition in order to reflect their risk of acquired cardiovascular disease better, and either to maintain or achieve an adequate visceral component.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asymmetric Dimethylarginine: Relationship with Circulating Biomarkers of Inflammation and Cardiovascular Disease Risk in Uncomplicated Obese Women:
Elena Dozio,A.E. Malavazos,Giada Dogliotti,Silvia Goggi,Emanuela Galliera,Umberto Solimene,Paolo Magni,Elena Costa,Lelio Morricone,Massimiliano M. Corsi +9 more
TL;DR: In obese uncomplicated patients TNFα and Hey emerged as strong predictors of ADMA which might be a potential mediator of the effects of different risk factors affecting the cardiovascular system.
