Photoluminescent, undoped ZnO films have been fabricated using spray pyrolysis of zinc nitrate solution The luminescent films had a polycrystalline hexagonal wurtzite type structure with no preferred orientation Photoluminescence intensity was critically dependent on substrate temperature during spray pyrolysis and on post-annealing temperature Green, photoluminescent films possessed a porous structure while orange films possessed a close packed granular morphology Green luminescence appears to be due to oxygen vacancies in a layer just below the crystallite surface

The increasing utilization of heavy metals in modern industries leads to an increase in the environmental burden. Nickel represents a good example of a metal whose use is widening in modern technologies. As the result of accelerated consumption of nickel-containing products nickel compounds are released to the environment at all stages of production and utilization. Their accumulation in the environment may represent a serious hazard to human health. Among the known health related effects of nickel are skin allergies, lung fibrosis, variable degrees of kidney and cardiovascular system poisoning and stimulation of neoplastic transformation. The mechanism of the latter effect is not known and is the subject of detailed investigation. This review provides an analysis of the current state in the field.

: This survey covers the kinetics of bimolecular and termolecular gas reactions that do not involve atoms or molecules in electronically excited states. Bimolecular reactions are here defined as reactions in which two molecules are involved as reactants, that yield two or more molecules as products. Those reactions in which two molecules combine to form one molecule are most usefully considered as the reverse of unimolecular reactions which will be dealt with in another survey. Reactions of oxygen and nitrogen atoms have been omitted as they will also form the subject of another survey. The literature from 1954 to December 31, 1965 has been exhaustively searched and is hoped that for this period nothing has been omitted that should have been included. The survey of earlier work has been based on one of the writers' books on 'Gas Kinetics' which covered the literature to 1954. Use of the book for over ten years has revealed few omissions and these have been included in these tables. Data for the period January to August 1966 has been included where possible.
