Equations of steady-state heat transfer between the main elements of a multipass shell-and-tube heat exchanger are formulated. These equations are solved at an odd number of passes of tube space for the cocurrent and countercurrent flows of the heat-transfer medium in the first pass of tube space and in the intertube space.

Analysis of the operation of cocurrent and countercurrent multipass heat exchangers

Equations are formulated of heat exchange between the main elements of a multipass shell-and-tube heat exchanger in stationary regime. These equations are solved for even number of passes in the tube space for co- and countercurrent flows of the heat transfer agent in the first pass of the tube space and in the intertubular space.
