Sierpinski fractal antenna for internet of things applications

A novel microstrip-fed quasi self-complementary fractal antenna is designed and fabricated to achieve the desired Ultra Wideband (UWB) features. The prospective antenna has a total size of 15 × 13 × 1.5 mm3 that empowers planting in different portable devices. A wide impedance bandwidth is achieved covering the band from 3.6 GHz to more than 14 GHz with reflection coefficient superior to − 10dB. Omnidirectional radiation pattern with stable radiation characteristics is acquired. Good agreement is achieved between simulated and measurement results as a proof of concept.

Design of miniaturized fractal quasi-self complimentary antenna for UWB applications

In this article we present a study of different models with fractal geometry implemented in Ultra Wide-Band (UWB) antennas design. With different methods and geometric variants applied to this type of antennas, frequency ranges between 1-20GHz are obtained, generating an efficiency greater than 90% in its operating band, considering the variation of different parameters such as iterations, shape, slots, among other things; Bandwidths greater than 15GHz have been achieved, this has generated a wide range of applications for fractal antennas. An analysis was carried out based on the similarity of the models, the operating ranges, and the constructive characteristics, with the aim of improving bandwidth, efficiency, and radiation properties, generating options that will serve as a starting point for the development and design of antennas in the future.

Recents Designs of Ultra Wide Band Antennas using Fractal Geometry: A Review

A printed Bow-Tie slot antenna with loaded stub is proposed and the effects of changing the dimensions of the slot area, the stub and load sizes are considered in this paper. These parameters have a considerable effect on the antenna characteristics as well as its performance. An in-depth parametric study of these dimensions is presented. This paper proposes the necessary conditions for initial approximation of dimensions needed to design this antenna. In order to achieve the desired performance of the antenna fine tuning of all sizes of these parameters is required. The parametric studies used in this paper provide proper trends for initiation and tuning the design. A prototype of the antenna for 1.7GHz to 2.6GHz band is fabricated. Measurements conducted verify that the designed antenna has wideband characteristics with 50% bandwidth around the center frequency of 2.1GHz. Conducted measurements for reflection coefficient (S11) and radiation pattern also validate our simulation results.

This paper presents a low-profile, single layered rectangular microstrip patch antenna designed to operate for 2.45GHz and 4.96GHz frequency band of IEEE 802.11.A rectangular patch of dimensions 18.6×26.8mm is positioned above the surface of an Alumina (Al 2 O 3 ceramic) substrate at a height of 4mm from the ground plane and fed by coaxial feed configuration to operate at 2.45GHz frequency band (IEEE802.11b/g/n). On loading a notch over the radiating patch dual frequency behaviour of the antenna is achieved and it resonates at both 2.45GHz and 4.96GHz frequency band(IEEE802.11y). The proposed antenna has a unidirectional radiation pattern. This probe feed antenna is designed and simulated using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) v13.0.

Design of a miniaturized dual band patch antenna for WLAN applications

This paper presents a low profile sierpinski fractal antenna for ultra wide band applications. The proposed antenna is designed by incorporating sierpinski fractals inside a circular ring of width 1mm which improves the impedance band width and radiation efficiency of the antenna. The proffered antenna of dimensions 29×28×1.6 mm3 covering the frequency range of 3.7 to 14.3 GHz with radiation efficiency of 92% is fed by microstrip feed line. The radiation pattern is stable over the operating UWB range. Sierpinski fractal UWB antenna is designed and simulated using High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS).
