A weather station can be described as an instrument or device, which provides us with the information of the weather in our neighbouring environment. For example it can provide us with details about the surrounding temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, etc. Hence, this device basically senses the temperature, pressure, humidity, light intensity, rain value. There are various types of sensors present in the prototype, using which all the aforementioned parameters can be measured. It can be used to monitor the temperature or humidity of a particular room/place. With the help of temperature and humidity we can calculate other data parameters, such as the dew point. In addition to the above mentioned functionalities, we can monitor the light intensity of the place as well. We have also enabled to monitor the atmospheric pressure of the room. We can also monitor the rain value. The brain of the prototype is the ESP8266 based Wi-fi module Nodemcu (12E). Four sensors are connected to the NodeMCU namely temperature and humidity sensor(DHT11), pressure sensor(BMP180), raindrop module, and light dependent resistor(LDR). Whenever these values exceed a chosen threshold limit for each an SMS, an E-mail and a Tweet post is published alerting the owner of the appliance to take necessary measures.

IoT based weather station

The scarcity of clean water resources around the globe has generated a need for their optimum utilization. Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, based on the application specific sensors’ data acquisition and intelligent processing, are bridging the gaps between the cyber and physical worlds. IoT based smart irrigation systems can help in achieving optimum water-resource utilization in the precision farming landscape. This paper presents an open-source technology based smart system to predict the irrigation requirements of a field using the sensing of ground parameter like soil moisture, soil temperature, and environmental conditions along with the weather forecast data from the Internet. The intelligence of the proposed system is based on a smart algorithm, which considers sensed data along with the weather forecast parameters like precipitation, air temperature, humidity, and UV for the near future. The complete system has been developed and deployed on a pilot scale, where the sensor node data is wirelessly collected over the cloud using webservices and a web-based information visualization and decision support system provides the real-time information insights based on the analysis of sensors data and weather forecast data. The paper describes the system and discusses in detail the information processing results of three weeks data based on the proposed algorithm. The system is fully functional and the prediction results are very encouraging.

Water treatment process using conventional and advanced methods: A comparative study of Malaysia and selected countries

The system obtained in this paper is an advanced result for monitoring weather conditions in certain places and anywhere in the world. Prepared with physical equipments, cars, structures and sensors, electronics, software, and other network-related matters make these items in statistical collection and conversation. Sensor control through environmental monitoring information and sensor temperature, humidity, light intensity, rainfall, MQ-135 pollution sensor, and BMP180 air pressure sensor send information to web pages and then sensor data as graph data. The latest data design of the implemented system can enter the Internet anywhere in the world.

Weather Monitoring System Using Smart Sensors Based on IoT

This study is based on experimental approach to linear displacement measurement using RGB color coding algorithm. This system is based on the auto-calibration procedure which can be implemented in a circuit, based on the temporal changes in the intensity of light, with the help of a light dependent resistor (LDR). The system consists of two LDRs and an LED placed on one side and an RGB color coded reflective paper on the opposite side. PIC microcontroller is used for powering the LED, processing of data for feedback control and to display the output on an LCD. LDR1 reading is used for displaying the relative linear distance, by mapping the voltage as a function of distance. This reading is used as a feedback to a PID controller to correct for the deviation in the measurement. Extensive experimental observations are conducted to analyze the reliability of the results in accordance to the wavelength of light reflected, the signal voltage and power output of the system. Investigation of the optimum positioning of the LED and the reflective RGB color coded paper is performed by repeatability analysis and hysteresis effects. Furthermore, the efficiency of the system is increased by implementing a PID controller upon investigating the different controller design, viz. P, PI and PID. A high resolution of 0.1 [mm] is obtained for such a simple and economical system, thereby making it highly efficient, in both minute measurements as well as over the entire bandwidth range of the visible light spectrum.

Experimental study on linear displacement measurement sensor using RGB color variation technique with PID controller

High demand of electrical power receives challenging feedback due to the lack of natural resources and high impact of the global warming. This paper describes one applicable method to optimize the electrical power consumption using Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor. A simple adjuster based on the sensor reading was developed and tested to one small room with two Light Emitting Diode (LED). Two LDR sensors to measure and analyze the surroundings light intensity were allocated for one LED bulb. The LDR sensors interface with each other, and the necessary intensity required by the bulb will be calculated and the bulbs will provide the required lumen for the surrounding/workspace. This system is tested during the day time. The output would affected by surroundings light sources. Hence, the LED bulbs light intensity will be reduced causing a directly proportional effect to the power consumption. This system can provide optimized light intensity for the surrounding and reduces the electrical power consumption during daytime.
