Purpose: The Corporate human resources in India have a negligible attention towards the visually impaired employees. The aim is to find out the correlation between the sexual self-concept, body esteem and the psychological well-being that relates to job performance of the visually impaired employees. As this will enable the companies to enhance their Employee Value Proposition accordingly. The authors have explored other dimensions possible; apart from sensitization workshops that will create a high sustainable working environment.

The Internet in general and the web are considered the main medium of remote communication. They are important sources of information and services to all the users. Assistive technologies and tools facilitate web accessibility to help users with special needs by delivering the content of the webpages in a form that is understandable by these users. However, these assistive technologies and tools often face certain obstacles in delivering the information because of the confusion of web design elements caused by poor webpage design or carelessness in following the web accessibility guidelines. In this paper, we list the minimum required web accessibility guidelines formulated on the basis of a comprehensive review of WCAG 2.1 guidelines to be followed while developing webpages for visually impaired users. We then introduce a tool intended to enhance web accessibility for such users. We tested the tool on a few websites and observed that it significantly improved the webpage accessibility of these websites.

Instant Adaptation Enrichment Technique to Improve Web Accessibility for Blind Users

With the recent advancements of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), e-learning is revolutionizing the education sector. Unfortunately, due to low Internet penetration, rural regions are not benefited from this development as expected. WiFi-based Long Distance (WiLD) network is emerging as a suitable low-cost solution for covering eural areas over other alternatives such as WiMAX, VSAT, GPRS, and WLL. However, supporting audio and video based e-learning applications over resource-constrained WiLD networks still remains a challenging issue. In this paper, we have reviewed the various QoS requirements of e-learning applications such as video on demand, video conferencing, virtual laboratory, and WWW. Throughput, delay, jitter and packet loss performances of various e-learning applications have been analyzed over WiLD networks. The simulation results suggest that the e-learning based real-time applications show good performance with reasonable load but perform abysmally in relatively high load. Various research challenges in supporting e-learning applications over WiLD networks have also been put forward.

A Performance Analysis of E-Learning over WiFi-based Long Distance Networks

In this paper a novel approach is implemented for learning of IT related courses for visually impaired through e-learning which provides a facility for anyone to learn from anywhere at anytime. It enables visually impaired students to learn the knowledge by accessing the e-content and work more independently with ease of access compared to traditional methods. At present most of eLearning websites are providing the content mostly useful for normal students. Using screen readers, learning of the content from these websites are cumbersome for visual impaired. A survey has been carried out on a batch of visually impaired students to explore existing eLearning concepts and tools in IT related courses. This work is mostly focused on the issue of web accessibility and to facilitate effective access of content and learning to the visually-impaired students. The methodology used in this paper is validated by visually-impaired students and experts and yielded good results. It is also tested for portability of using with various modes of access such as personal computers, Tablets and Mobile phones.
