Journal ArticleDOI
Reversal of focal "misery-perfusion syndrome" by extra-intracranial arterial bypass in hemodynamic cerebral ischemia. A case study with 15O positron emission tomography.
TL;DR: There was a focal mismatch between CBF and oxygen metabolism in the brain supplied by tbe middle cerebral artery where CBF was decreased and OEF increased ("misery-perfusion syndrome" as opposed to "luxury- perfusioa syndrome") and this pattern of abnormalities indicates potential liable tissue.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of extra-intracranial arterial bypass on cerebral blood flow and oxygen metabolism in humans.
TL;DR: The study of patients with a successful unilateral extra-intracranial arterial by-pass suggests that long-standing hemodynamic failure may induce a metabolic depression that is still potentially reversible by surgical revascularization.
Journal Article
[Regional hemodynamic and metabolic consequences of temporo-sylvian anastomosis. Study of 15 patients by positron emission tomography].
Yves Samson,Jean-Claude Baron,Marie-Germaine Bousser,A Rey,Roux Fx,Derlon Jm,Comoy J,David P,D. Comar +8 more
TL;DR: In the whole group of patients, both CBF and CMRO2 increased significantly on both cerebral hemispheres after the EIAB, and this effect was more marked in patients with extensive occlusive disease of neck vessels.
