Angiogenesis and the atherosclerotic carotid plaque: An association between symptomatology and plaque morphology
Mark J McCarthy,Ian M. Loftus,Matt M. Thompson,L. Jones,Nicholas J.M. London,Peter R.F. Bell,A. Ross Naylor,Nicholas P.J. Brindle +7 more
TL;DR: Symptomatic carotid disease is associated with increased neovascularization within the atherosclerotic plaque and fibrous cap and may contribute to plaque instability and the onset of thromboembolic sequelae.
Journal ArticleDOI
Beneficial Effects of Clopidogrel Combined With Aspirin in Reducing Cerebral Emboli in Patients Undergoing Carotid Endarterectomy
David A. Payne,Chris I. Jones,Paul D. Hayes,Matt M. Thompson,Nicholas J.M. London,Peter R.F. Bell,Alison H. Goodall,A. Ross Naylor +7 more
TL;DR: This is the first study to show that a CEA patient’s postoperative thromboembolic potential can be significantly reduced by targeted preoperative antiplatelet therapy without increasing the risk of bleeding complications.
Journal ArticleDOI
In situ replacement of infected aortic grafts with rifampicin-bonded prostheses: the Leicester experience (1992 to 1998)
Paul D. Hayes,A. Nasim,Nicholas J.M. London,Robert D. Sayers,W.W. Barrie,P. R. F. Bell,A. Ross Naylor +6 more
TL;DR: The long-term results after total graft excision and in situ replacement with a rifampicin-bonded prosthesis appear to be favorable, however, MRSA aortic graft infection appears to be associated with a poor prognosis.
