Applied Missing Data Analysis

This article proposes an active levitation control system composed of an active magnetic bearing (AMB) rotor and an interval type-2 (IT2) model-based fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The controller aims to achieve fast and stable levitation by compensating for system uncertainties via proper design of IT2 membership functions. In particular, the complex nonlinear dynamics of the AMB are modeled as a set of local linear systems around multiple operating points, which can be stabilized by a parallel distributed compensation scheme. Sufficient conditions are derived to guarantee the asymptotical stability of the closed-loop system based on the linear matrix inequality approach and the Lyapunov stability theory. Moreover, input constraints are applied in an enhanced version of the controller. Experiments on a real AMB platform were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed IT2 FLC.

Design of Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Controllers for Active Magnetic Bearing Systems

This thesis contributes by first, conducting a comparative study of traditional and modern classifications by highlighting the differences in their performance. Second, an algorithm to enhance the prediction of values to be used for data imputation with nonlinear models is presented. Third, a novel algorithm model selection to enhance prediction performance in the presence of missing data is presented. It includes an overview of nonlinear model selection with complete data, and provides summary descriptions of Box-Tidwell and fractional polynomial methods for model selection. In particular, it focuses on the fractional polynomial method for nonlinear modelling in cases of missing data. An analysis ex- ample is presented to illustrate the performance of this method.

Handling of Missing Values in Static and Dynamic Data Sets

This paper explains the design of Servo State Feedback Controller and Feedback Linearization for Magnetic Levitation Ball System (MLBS). The system uses feedback linearization to change the nonlinear model of magnetic levitation ball system to the linear system. Servo state feedback controller controls the position of the ball. An integrator eliminates the steady state error in servo state feedback controller. The parameter of integral gain and state feedback gains is achieved from the concept of Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM). The CDM requires the controllable canonical form, because of that Matrix Transformation is needed. Hence, feedback linearization is applied first to the MLBS then converted to a controllable form by a transformation matrix. The simulation shows the system can follow the desired position and robust from the position disturbance. The uncertainty parameter of mass, inductance, and resistance of MLBS also being investigated in the simulation. Comparing CDM with another method such as Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and Pole Placement, CDM can give better response, that is no overshoot but a quite fast response. The main advantage of CDM is it has a standard parameter to obtain controller’s parameter hence it can avoid trial and error.

It includes an overview of nonlinear model selection with complete data, and provides accessible descriptions of Box-Tidwell and fractional polynomial methods for model selection. In particular, this paper focuses on a fractional polynomial method for nonlinear modelling in cases of missing data and presents analysis examples to illustrate performance of the method.
