TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the findings of a workshop organized in New Delhi to assess the current state of green construction in India and highlight the major drivers and challenges faced by the construction sector.
Abstract: Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present the findings of a workshop organized in New Delhi to assess the current state of green construction in India and highlight the major drivers and challenges faced by the construction sector.Design/methodology/approach – The data collection for this paper is conducted through two sources; a survey and a facilitated brainstorming session. The survey provides an opportunity to compare practices in India to global trends and the facilitated sessions provides a platform to collect data on more subjective, experiential knowledge about green construction in India.Findings – Some of the major findings of this endeavour are: there is an awareness about green construction in India; It is primarily driven by the governmental and international regulations; with the current energy crisis customers in India are actually willing to pay extra for going green; and there is a lack of accurate lifecycle cost assessment models which results in misconceptions about associated c...

TL;DR: In this paper, an e-governance service delivery model based on its critical success factors is presented, which shows the mutual influences of these factors which influence other success factors and to identify those factors which are most influenced by others.
Abstract: India needs a sustainable citizen-centric e-governance model along with change management, effective project design and monitoring to facilitate information and services in a hassle free manner. This paper presents an e-Governance service delivery model based on its critical success factors. This model shows the mutual influences of these factors which influence other success factors and to identify those factors which are most influenced by others ('Dependent Success Factors'). The Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) technique has been used to evolve mutual relationships between these factors. 'Strong political leadership' and 'change management' are found to have significant effect and are able to maintain the sustainability of the e-governance project.

TL;DR: In this paper, the ongoing integration process of the aforesaid philosophies in flexible system, total quality management and supply chain has been highlighted through literature review, and an evolutionary timeline has been prepared taking into account all the relevant and seminal papers published in the area of Flexible system, TQM and SCM.
Abstract: In the global market conditions, the integrated Flexible Systems (FS) with Total Quality Management (TQM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a growing field of interest for many a researchers and practitioners from the last decades. In the present paper, the ongoing integration process of aforesaid philosophies in flexible system, total quality management and supply chain has been highlighted through literature review. Many specific empirical studies have been carried out, and categories such as types of Flexibility and Total Quality Management have been studied to a great depth in the past. This paper focuses more on relatively unexplored categories, as they offer potential for further exploration and research. Classification developed to show supply chains and Flexible System in TQM context from a wider perspective. Based on problem context as classification and scope for future practice and research, an evolutionary timeline has been prepared taking into account all the relevant and seminal papers published in the area of Flexible system, TQM and SCM. The definition and scope of FS in the literature from Total Quality Management to Supply Chain context classification has been undertaken. The focus on TQM, Flexible Systems and Supply Chains aspects has been done in order to facilitate further study and research.

TL;DR: A workshop on green construction was organized in New Delhi in July 2008 by Jamia Millia University, India and University of Salford, U.K., aiming to increase 'green' practices that are environmentally friendly and energy efficient as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A workshop on green construction was organized in New Delhi in July 2008 by Jamia Millia University, India and University of Salford, U.K., aiming to increase 'green' practices that are environmentally friendly and energy efficient. The workshop included participants from regulatory bodies, public and private construction companies and researchers. The object of the workshop was to provide an opportunity to capture issues, challenges and research issues in green practices throughout the supply chain in the construction sector in India. The methodology constituted a survey that was provided to all participants, where eight questions were composed by the facilitators. The participants were asked about their views on voluntary and compulsory ways of assessment and audit of green implementation in India. The findings of the workshop featured major challenges, drivers, initiatives, and the ways of effective implementation as well as enforcement on the discussed topic.
