Journal ArticleDOI
Precipitation of southwestern Canada: Wavelet, scaling, multifractal analysis, and teleconnection to climate anomalies
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used wavelets to detect statistically significant interannual and interdecadal oscillations that occurred haphazardly in southwestern (SW) Canadian seasonal precipitation anomalies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-frequency variability in southwestern Canadian stream flow : Links with large-scale climate anomalies
Adam Kenea Gobena,Thian Yew Gan +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the impacts of El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Pacific-North America (PNA) pattern, West Pacific (WP) pattern and Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO) teleconnections on the interannual to interdecadal variability of southwestern (SW) Canadian streamflow anomalies were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incorporation of seasonal climate forecasts in the ensemble streamflow prediction system.
Adam Kenea Gobena,Thian Yew Gan +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a technique for incorporating 0-3 months lead temperature and precipitation forecasts from two Canadian numerical weather prediction (NWP) models into the ensemble streamflow prediction (ESP) system is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in North American snowpacks for 1979–2007 detected from the snow water equivalent data of SMMR and SSM/I passive microwave and related climatic factors
Thian Yew Gan,Thian Yew Gan,Roger G. Barry,Mesgana Seyoum Gizaw,Adam Kenea Gobena,Rajagopalan Balaji +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, changes to the North American snowpack for 1979-2007 were detected from snow water equivalent (SWE) retrieved empirically from horizontally polarized brightness temperature (TB) of a scanning multichannel microwave radiometer (18 and 37 GHz) and special sensor microwave imager (19 and 38 GHz) passive microwave data using the nonparametric Kendall's test.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Role of Pacific Climate on Low-Frequency Hydroclimatic Variability and Predictability in Southern Alberta, Canada
Adam Kenea Gobena,Thian Yew Gan +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, wavelet and rank correlation analysis was used to identify the links between primary Pacific climate variability modes and low-frequency hydroclimatic variability in the South Saskatchewan River basin (SSRB) of southern Alberta.
