A power supply includes a power converter configured to convert an input voltage to a target output DC voltage in response to a feedback signal, the feedback signal having a value. The power supply also includes a regulator coupled to the power converter and configured to generate an output power status signal, which may be in one of two states depending whether an output current from the regulator is above or below a target current over a preset time duration. Further, a control circuit is coupled to the power converter and to the regulator and configured to increment or decrement the value of the feedback signal depending on the state of the power status signal.

Dimming circuit, dimming method and LED driving circuit

A light-emitting diode driver is disclosed. In an LED driver, a diming control circuit receives a PWM signal and a clock signal and outputs a dimming signal and a sampling signal. A turn-on time of sampling signal is shorter than a cycle of clock signal. A first error amplifier receives a feedback voltage, a reference voltage and a dimming signal and outputs a compensating voltage. A second erroramplifier receives the compensating voltage and a ramp signal and outputs a pulse voltage. A driving controller receives the dimming signal and pulse voltage and outputs a control signal. An output stage receives the control signal and an input voltage and generates an output voltage to LED strings. A minimum voltage selecting unit selects a minimum LED voltage. The first error amplifier receivesthe minimum LED voltage through the selectively conducted switch unit controlled by the sampling signal.

Light-emitting diode driver

The present invention provides a backlighting dimming circuit and a liquid crystal display. The backlighting dimming circuit includes an external dimmer module (200) that receives a pulse dimming signal (PWM) to control a current regulation tube (Q1) included in the external dimmer module (200) to conduct on or cut off so as to control an LED light bar (300) to conduct on or cut off. A constant current driving chip (100) needs only one first terminal pin (1) provided thereto and through comparison of a voltage level at the first terminal pin (1) with a preset protection voltage level built in the constant current driving chip (100), an operation of conducting on or cutting of the LED light bar (300) can be carried out so that the number of the terminal pins necessary for the constant current driving chip can be reduced and thus, a packaging size of the constant current driving chip is reduced and the efficiency of tuning and testing of the backlighting dimming circuit is increased.

A control circuit includes an input terminal for receiving an input signal, which maybe either a digital input signal or an analog input signal, and the control circuit is configured to provide a digital control signal in response to the input signal. The control circuit may include a mode detection circuit for determining whether the input signal is a digital signal or an analog signal and providing a mode signal, a multiplexer circuit configured to select either a digital reference signal or an analog reference signal in response to the mode signal, and a comparator configured for comparing the input signal with the reference signal selected by the multiplexer to provide the PWM control signal.
