TL;DR: The beneficial effects of bariatric surgery are already noticeable 1 month postoperatively, the reduction in insulin levels being more important for leptin reduction than decreased BMI, and leptin and insulin showed a larger reduction than body weight.

TL;DR: It is suggested that before undergoing surgery, the patients suffered from slight steatosis, while after BS the reduction in AST and γ-GT indicated that this condition was corrected within three months, which may be useful markers for excess fat in the liver.
