Caring and Communicating: The Interpersonal Relationship in Nursing

--- Caring behavior is one of the benchmarks for the quality of nursing services. However, when providing nursing care, not all students can do it in the right way. The results of research conducted by using the Caring Behavior Inventory (CBI) in college students accounted for only 23% of subjects with good caring behaviors. While 54% was in the moderate category and 23% was in the less category. In this study, researchers used a pre-experimental group pre-posttest design. Caring behavior was the dependent variable and preceptorship learning was an independent variable. The total sample was 13 subjects conducted by nonprobability sampling. The data collection tool used is the Caring Behavior Inventory (CBI). Data were analyzed using a paired t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a significance value of 0.071. P value> 0.05 indicates that there is no influence of preceptorship learning on the caring behavior of a student in the ICU. This indicates the need for further research on preceptorship learning programs and their influence on the caring behavior of nursing students.

The effect of coaching and mentoring towards nurse's caring and patient satisfaction.

Perilaku caring perawat sangat diperlukan dalam pelayanan keperawatan. Peningkatan perilaku caring salah satunya melalui pengembangan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Berpikir kritis merupakan komponen penting dari perawatan karena perawat selalu dihadapkan dengan situasi yang kompleks, yang menuntut penilaian akurat, pengambilan keputusan yang tepat dan merupakan proses pembelajaran terus menerus. Penelitian cross-sectional pada 99 perawat ini bertujuan membuktikan adanya hubungan berpikir kritis dengan perilaku caring perawat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada hubungan yang bermakna antara berpikir kritis dengan perilaku caring perawat (p=0,00; ii 0,05). Karakteristik responden yang berhubungan dengan perilaku caring perawat yaitu tingkat pendidikan (p=0,006; ii 0,05) dan pelatihan (p=0,001; ii 0,05). Variabel berpikir kritis merupakan faktor yang paling berhubungan dengan perilaku caring perawat (OR=247,139). Hasil penelitian ini menyarankan pentingnya meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis perawat. Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dapat dilakukan melalui pendidikan formal dan informal.

Introduction: Professional belongingness is one of the most important aspects of students' clinical work experience. An understanding of the relation between students’ belongingness on clinical setting and their professional behavior can significantly aid in promoting their professional behavior. This study determined the correlation between nursing students’ dependence on the clinical setting and their professional behavior. \nMethods: This research is a descriptive analytical study in which 110 third and fourth year nursing students ‌ at Islamic Azad University, Yazd Branch, were included in the study as a sample. Sampling was done by census method. Data were collected using questionnaires of demographic with 9 items, Levett-Jones clinical belongingness with 34 items and Goze professional behavior with 27 items. These questionnaires have been used in several studies and their validity has been assessed using content validity and reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. After completion, the data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics (Pearson, t-test) by SPSS software version 16. \nResult: The total score of professional behavior and clinical belongingness on clinical setting were 111.06 ± 16.38 and 118.69 ± 16.38, respectively. The subscales of efficiency (71.98 ±13.19), self-esteem (61/99 ± 11.56), and connectivity (42.62 ± 17.00) had the highest weight in the scores of clinical belongingness, respectively. Besides, there was a direct significant correlation between “belongingness on clinical setting and its dimensions” and “professional behavior”, based on Pearson correlation test (r = 548 and P = 0.000). \nConclusion: The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between belonging and professional behavior. This means that with increasing belonging, professional behavior improves. Thus, educational decision-makers and instructors/educators can enhance nursing students’ professional behavior through using appropriate educational strategies and creating a supportive environment to increase feelings of belongingness clinical setting.

The Relationship between Clinical belongingness and Professional Behavior in Nursing Students

Introduction: Critical patients have different needs compared to patients in other general inpatient wards, so they need extra treatments from a nurse. Nurse caring behavior gived through an approach in which nurses work by improving their concern to patients. However, it is influenced by caring efficacy in which a nurse is confident to express his or her caring to patients. The aims of this study were to identify the correlation between caring efficacy with nurse caring behavior in taking care of critical patients at dr. Dradjat Prawiranegara Serang Hospital in Banten Province Methods: This is a quantitative study with employed a correlation study. The sample size comprised 66 Nurses of ER, ICU and HCU with total sampling technique. The instruments used are CES (Caring Efficacy Scale) to measure caring efficacy and CBA (Caring Behavior Assessment) to measure nurse caring behavior. Descriptive analysis using mean, standard deviation, percentage and frequency distribution. Meanwhile, inferential analysis used Pearson's Correlation. Results: The univariate analysis results showed the mean ± DS score of caring behavior is 87.6 ± 10.12. Meanwhile, the mean ± DS score of caring efficacy is 86.23 ± 8.74. Further, inferential analysis revealed a significant (p < 0.000) and moderate correlations (r = 0.448) between caring efficacy and nurse caring behavior. Conclusion: Higher of nurse's caring efficacy were followed by higher of nurse's caring behavior in taking care of critical patients. Findings can be used by academic as a prospective nurse and health professionals, to implement a concept of caring efficacy  to improve caring behavior. Further research can be a focus on the nursing interventions based on nurses caring behavior to strengthen and increase in taking care of critical patients.

Caring Efficacy and Nurse Caring Behavior in Taking Care of Critical Patients

Wajo Regency is the best silk weaving industrial area in South Sulawesi, but the emergence of several competitors for silk fabrics from abroad, and various modern-style fabric products that are variously supplied by wholesalers from outside the South Sulawesi area indirectly affect the movement of market. This study aims to determine the effect of entrepreneurial commitment, entrepreneurial competence and competitiveness of the silk industry on the business performance of silk entrepreneurs. The type of research is a quantitative research methodology. The research was conducted on a silk business located in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi Province. A total of 357 samples were obtained using the cluster random sampling technique based on the Krejcie and Morgan tables. Data collection method employing a scale that uses the Likert scale. Data analysis techniques using the SmartPLS 3.0 software's path analysis, it was found that commitment, entrepreneurial competence has a significant effect on business performance, commitment has a significant effect on the development of competitiveness, and entrepreneurial competence has not significant effect on the development of competitiveness. The results found that the entrepreneurial competence of silk entrepreneurs was still lacking in developing the competitiveness of the silk business.
