Citrus fruit diseases are the major cause of extreme citrus fruit yield declines. As a result, designing an automated detection system for citrus plant diseases is important. Deep learning methods have recently obtained promising results in a number of artificial intelligence issues, leading us to apply them to the challenge of recognizing citrus fruit and leaf diseases. In this paper, an integrated approach is used to suggest a convolutional neural networks (CNNs) model. The proposed CNN model is intended to differentiate healthy fruits and leaves from fruits/leaves with common citrus diseases such as black spot, canker, scab, greening, and Melanose. The proposed CNN model extracts complementary discriminative features by integrating multiple layers. The CNN model was checked against many state-of-the-art deep learning models on the Citrus and PlantVillage datasets. According to the experimental results, the CNN Model outperforms the competitors in a variety of measurement metrics. The CNN Model has a test accuracy of 94.55 percent, making it a valuable decision support tool for farmers looking to classify citrus fruit/leaf diseases.

Assessment of state-of-the-art deep learning based citrus disease detection techniques using annotated optical leaf images

In precision farming, identifying weeds is an essential first step in planning an integrated pest management program in cereals. By knowing the species present, we can learn about the types of herbicides to use to control them, especially in non-weeding crops where mechanical methods that are not effective (tillage, hand weeding, and hoeing and mowing). Therefore, using the deep learning based on convolutional neural network (CNN) will help to automatically identify weeds and then an intelligent system comes to achieve a localized spraying of the herbicides avoiding their large-scale use, preserving the environment. In this article we propose a smart system based on object detection models, implemented on a Raspberry, seek to identify the presence of relevant objects (weeds) in an area (wheat crop) in real time and classify those objects for decision support including spot spray with a chosen herbicide in accordance to the weed detected.

Intelligent detection of citrus fruit pests using machine vision system and convolutional neural network through transfer learning technique

The food security major threats are the diseases affected in plants such as citrus so that the identification in an earlier time is very important. Convenient malady recognition can assist the client with responding immediately and sketch for some guarded activities. This recognition can be completed without a human by utilizing plant leaf pictures. There are many methods employed for the classification and detection in machine learning (ML) models, but the combination of increasing advances in computer vision appears the deep learning (DL) area research to achieve a great potential in terms of increasing accuracy. In this paper, two ways of conventional neural networks are used named Alex Net and Res Net models with and without data augmentation involves the process of creating new data points by manipulating the original data. This process increases the number of training images in DL without the need to add new photos, it will appropriate in the case of small datasets. A self-dataset of 200 images of diseases and healthy citrus leaves are collected. The trained models with data augmentation give the best results with 95.83% and 97.92% for Res Net and Alex Net respectively.
