A communication system to be used between a plurality of individuals with the communication system being mounted in conjunction with head wear. Generally, the individuals are engaged in some type of related activity such as riding bicycles. Within each head wear is incorporated a receiver that is to be located directly adjacent an ear of the user. Also mounted on the head wear of each user is an elongated unit with this elongated unit including a microphone in one end thereof and an antenna at the opposite end thereof. This unit is pivotally mounted on the head wear between an inactive position and a using position. When in a using position, the microphone is located directly adjacent to the mouth of the user. When in the inactive position, the microphone is located in an out-of-the-way position spaced some distance from the mouth of the user.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earphone cable antenna device, a connection cable and a broadcast receiving apparatus for UHF bands, wherein provision of an earphone cable antenna that is resistant to affection by a human body being close to the antenna can achieve a stable antenna performance that is less dependent on the usage status. SOLUTION: An insertion connector part 6 is inserted into an earphone connector part 8 connected to the circuitry within a lower case 2, whereby at least one of signal lines 4 is connected to a broadcast receiving circuit 9 via an audio signal line 10. The signal line 4 is also connected to a high frequency cutoff circuit 7 that is spaced by 3/4λ of operational frequency from the insertion connector part 6 to cut off the high frequency currents of UHF bands. The high frequency cutoff circuit 7 is further connected to an earphone 3 via the signal line 4. An earphone cable antenna element 5 is arranged in parallel with the signal line 4 and is equivalent to a L1=3/4λ length at the operational frequency. There is provided an antenna device for use with a portable terminal, which can be used in different frequency bands by combining antenna characteristics. Whip antenna is electrically connected to power feeder through contact member, and resonates in a UHF band or higher when extended. Coiled antenna is electrically connected to power feeder through frequency filter mounted on device board. Frequency filter is set to a low impedance in a VHF band to supply electric power to coiled antenna. With this arrangement, external whip antenna is excited in the UHF band or higher, and built-in coiled antenna is mainly excited in the VHF band. The antenna device is thus capable of sending or receiving radio waves in a wide frequency band.

Antenna device for portable terminals and radio unit for receiving broadcast waves

A mobile terminal antenna device that can be used for different frequency bands by combining antenna characteristics. A whip antenna (1), which is electrically connected to a power supply part (3) via a contact hardwire (5), resonates, when extended, with frequencies of the UHF band or higher band. A coil antenna (2) is electrically connected to the power supply part (3) via a frequency filter (4) disposed on a device substrate (10). The frequency filter (4) is adapted to exhibit a low impedance for the VHF band to apply a power to the coil antenna (2). According to this arrangement, the external whip antenna (1) is caused to excite for the UHF band or higher band, while the build-in coil antenna (2) is caused to mainly excite for the VHF band, whereby a wide frequency band of transmission or reception can be realized.

There is provided a mobile telephone assuring a high reception sensitivity over a wide band without deteriorating the design of the mobile telephone. In the mobile telephone, a helical antenna ( 4 ) operating as an antenna for television reception is formed by winding a conductive element along the external surface of the case several times at the upper end of the upper case ( 1 ). The helical antenna ( 4 ) is impedance-matched by a matching circuit ( 5 ) in a range of the order from 470 MHz to 700 MHz which is the television broadcast frequency. The matching circuit ( 5 ) is connected to a broadcast reception circuit ( 6 ). The broadcast reception circuit ( 6 ) operates as a reception circuit for receiving the television broadcast wave.
