The present invention provides a generic interface which enables asynchronous data processing elements to be interconnected using an interconnection protocol that controls flow of data between the processing elements. The flow control allows the processing elements to be data independent from, i.e., the processing elements need not be designed for a fixed sample rate or resolution, sample format and other data dependent factors. When used with digital motion video data, the processing elements may process motion video data at various temporal and spatial resolutions and color formats. Flow of data between processing elements may be controlled by handshake signals indicating whether the sender has valid data and the receiver can receive data. When valid data is available at the sender and is requested by the receiver, a transfer of data occurs. The characteristics of the data, and functions to be performed on the data may be specified using control inputs to the processing elements. A counting circuit may be used to specify the number of the data samples for which the control inputs are valid. The interface allows each processing element to have a small number of storage locations for storing data, such as a pair of registers, which eliminates the need for large buffers and simplifies implementation of the processing element with such flow control as a simple integrated circuit.

The invention relates to a picture character recognition method, which comprises the following steps of: extracting characteristic values of 10 regions of Chinese characters in various fonts, and constructing a matrix library; calculating the recognition accuracy rates of ten feature areas of the character graphs of multiple fonts and multiple specifications, sorting the feature areas according tothe recognition accuracy rates, and finally selecting seven features for combined recognition; performing feature extraction on characters on the to-be-identified picture, and calculating a feature value; and comparing the calculated characteristic values in a matrix library, and outputting the Chinese character with the highest similarity. When character recognition is carried out, only black and white pixel characteristics of picture characters are adopted, the principle is simple, the calculated amount is small, and the accuracy rate is high.

The present disclosure provides a system and method for mapping zone-based metadata into one or more reference-able objects. The system and method extracts and/or generates metadata from a document according to custom zones defined in a document type. Each custom zone is associated to actions such as generating events, invoking triggers and/or invoking callback methods. One or more of these actions may be triggered when pre-processing or post-processing a document. According to an inventive concept of the present application, when a document is stored in a data storage and placed in a process queue to be processed by a suitable processing plugin according to the custom zones defined in the document. For instance, an image file comprising textual custom zones may be processed by an OCR plugin which extracts text metadata from the document. Other processing plugins include plugins to extract metadata from proprietary document formats such as CAD, PPTX, PDF, PSD, or others. Plugins are also available for generation of metadata by interpreting an image (i.e. detection or identification of objects and/or scenery in an image) through artificial intelligence and computer vision means. The process queue can be used for scalability of the quantity of actions to process.
