Journal ArticleDOI
Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest during the Covid-19 Outbreak in Italy.
Enrico Baldi,Giuseppe Maria Sechi,Claudio Mare,Fabrizio Canevari,Antonella Brancaglione,Roberto Primi,Catherine Klersy,Alessandra Palo,Enrico Contri,Vincenza Ronchi,Giorgio Beretta,Francesca Reali,Pierpaolo Parogni,Fabio Facchin,Davide Bua,Ugo Rizzi,Daniele Bussi,Simone Ruggeri,Luigi Oltrona Visconti,Simone Savastano +19 more
TL;DR: Out- of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest and Covid-19 From February 21 through April 1, 2019, a total of 229 cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest were reported in four provinces of Lombardy, Italy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Respiratory response and inspiratory effort during pressure support ventilation in COPD patients
TL;DR: In COPD patients, different levels of PSV may induce different respiratory patterns and gas exchange, and the addition of PEEPe, not exceeding dynamic intrinsic PEEP, may also reduce the metabolic work of the diaphragm without altering gas exchange.
Journal ArticleDOI
COVID-19 kills at home: the close relationship between the epidemic and the increase of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.
Enrico Baldi,Giuseppe Maria Sechi,Claudio Mare,Fabrizio Canevari,Antonella Brancaglione,Roberto Primi,Catherine Klersy,Alessandra Palo,Enrico Contri,Vincenza Ronchi,Giorgio Beretta,Francesca Reali,Pierpaolo Parogni,Fabio Facchin,Ugo Rizzi,Daniele Bussi,Simone Ruggeri,Luigi Oltrona Visconti,Simone Savastano +18 more
TL;DR: The increase in OHCAs in 2020 is significantly correlated to the COVID-19 pandemic and is coupled with a reduction in short-term outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Respiratory mechanics by least squares fitting in mechanically ventilated patients: Applications during paralysis and during pressure support ventilation
Giorgio Antonio Iotti,Antonio Braschi,Josef X. Brunner,T. Smits,M. Olivei,Alessandra Palo,R. Veronesi +6 more
TL;DR: The LSF method allows non-invasive evaluation of respiratory mechanics during PSV, provided that a near-relaxation condition is obtained by means of an adequately increased pressure support level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unfavorable mechanical effects of heat and moisture exchangers in ventilated patients.
Giorgio Antonio Iotti,M. Olivei,Alessandra Palo,C. Galbusera,R. Veronesi,A. Comelli,Josef X. Brunner,Antonio Braschi +7 more
TL;DR: The mechanical effects of artificial noses are investigated in a general intensive care unit of a university hospital to investigate the mechanical effects in patients in pressure support ventilation for acute respiratory distress.
