Ease of use and usefulness are believed to be fundamental in determining the acceptance and use of various, corporate ITs. These beliefs, however, may not explain the user’s behavior toward newly emerging ITs, such as the World-Wide-Web (WWW). In this study, we introduce playfulness as a new factor that reflects the user’s intrinsic belief in WWW acceptance. Using it as an intrinsic motivation factor, we extend and empirically validate the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for the WWW context. # 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

In recent years, there has been an increasing use of information and communication technology as a means of improving the income and capabilities of farmers. Technology for Development: Understanding Influences on use of Rural Telecenters in India

This paper presents a structured literature review of studies on IT-enabled organizational transformation to determine the state of the art and to identify areas for future research.,We collect 201 academic publications on IT-enabled organizational transformation and analyze them from three perspectives: a publication perspective, a research perspective and a conceptual perspective.,From a publication perspective, we identify and synthesize the seminal works to provide a brief history of research on IT-enabled organizational transformation. From a research perspective, we show that studies in this area have seldom been grounded in theory and have predominantly used qualitative approaches, while only a few studies have drawn from quantitative data. From a conceptual perspective, we show that most research has studied higher levels of transformation, especially process redesign.,This review presents the landscape of the literature on IT-enabled organizational transformation, which provides a foundation for future research.

IT-enabled organizational transformation: a structured literature review

Information systems IS researchers have intensively investigated information and communication technology ICT adoption. However, very little research has analyzed ICT adoption in the Arab region. This paper aims to review research related to ICT adoption in the Arab world to identify the current state of this research area and provide direction for future research. Fifty articles that addressed ICT adoption in three Arabic countries, namely United Arab Emirates UAE, Jordan, and Egypt, were found and selected for review. These articles were analyzed based on a research framework that included eight elements: the selected Arabic countries, applied theoretical models, adoption factors, type of adopted ICT, applied research methods, level of adoption, publication year, and quality of publications i.e. journals ranking. This paper discusses the current trends of ICT adoption research in the Arab region based on the findings of this analysis and provides two main directions for future research: conceptual and theoretical research development and methodological research.

Review of ICT Adoption Research in Arabic Countries: Trends and Future Research

Since the publication of Roger’s fifth edition of Diffusion of Innovations in 2003, there is a need to investigate the recent Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT) for Information Systems (IS) research for the purpose of finding trends. Much research has been conducted and needs to be synthesized to map a direction for future research. The methodology used in this study is meta-analysis of recent IDT IS research (2003-2011) published in the top eight IS Journals and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). The study’s initial meta-analysis findings suggest that more variables are tested by many studies to increase richness and attempts are made for more objective measures of the Rate of Adoption variable to improve clarity. The paper’s contribution is the direction of Effective Information Systems which can be measured by diffusion into social systems, internationally and collaboratively.

Examining Trends of Technology Diffusion Theories in Information Systems

Based on people’s enthusiasm and economical reasons, space commercialization will get more momentum in the future, and eventually reach a full commercialization status, a public-oriented human space commercialization (POHSC) where the public freely participate and purchase space products and services. In this study, the authors conduct a survey-based research model to investigate public perception on POHSC in the human space exploration (HSE) context. The authors want to identify what factors influence public acceptance and adoption of POHSC, and to evaluate public willingness to pay for future services provided by POHSC. For these objectives, the authors develop the concept of ‘eMerge’, a conceptualized mobile device-based application tool with which the public access and pay for their services. The authors also propose the Technology Acceptance Model with ‘eMerge’ specific (TAMe). The results show that public perceptions are strongly affected by perceived availability, perceived usefulness, and perceived enjoyment to use ‘eMerge’. The Perceived availability and perceived enjoyment have significant effect on public motivation to use ‘eMerge’ by forming a positive attitude toward intention to use it. It also shows that the public have very high expectations and enthusiasm on POHSC in terms of their estimated spending on ‘eMerge’.
