Online Learning: A Panacea in the Time of COVID-19 Crisis:

Young Children's Online Learning during COVID-19 Pandemic: Chinese Parents' Beliefs and Attitudes.

Online learning is an educational process which takes place over the Internet as a form of distance education. Distance education became ubiquitous as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020. Because of these circumstances, online teaching and learning had an indispensable role in early childhood education programs, even though debates continue on whether or not it is beneficial for young children to be exposed extensively to Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This descriptive study demonstrates how a preservice teacher education course in early childhood education was redesigned to provide student teachers with opportunities to learn and teach online. It reports experiences and reflections from a practicum course offered in the Spring Semester of 2020, in the USA. It describes three phases of the online student teachers' experiences-Preparation, Implementation, and Reflection. Tasks accomplished in each phase are reported. Online teaching experiences provided these preservice teachers with opportunities to interact with children, as well as to encourage reflection on how best to promote young children's development and learning with online communication tools.

Learning and Teaching Online During Covid-19: Experiences of Student Teachers in an Early Childhood Education Practicum.

Chinese government has imposed strict measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Most face-to-face activities, including teaching, have been banned. Chinese universities and colleges have postponed the beginning of spring semester. Students are not allowed to return to campuses without approval. To provide flexible online learning to over 270 million students, Ministry of Education has launched an initiative entitled ‘Disrupted classes, undisrupted learning’. On February 5, 2020, the initiative was followed up by ‘Guidance on the Organization and Management of Online Teaching in the Higher Education Institutions During Epidemic Prevention and Control Period’ (Ministry of Education 2020). The Guidance requires national and local governments to encourage colleges and universities, together with the rest of the society, to participate in joint implementation of online education. How Many Ways Can We Define Online Learning? A Systematic Literature Review of Definitions of Online Learning (1988-2018).

Vitronectin is a key circulatory glycoprotein, exhibiting interactions with other proteins that regulate wound healing, cellular immunity, angiogenesis, coagulation, and fibrinolysis. Vitronectin structure/function depend on its localization within the circulation (fluid phase vs. vasculature). The conversion of vitronectin from a solution-phase (monomeric) to matrix-phase (oligomeric) form has been proposed to occur via intermolecular ~-sheet propagation mediated by a ~-propeller region within the central domain (~200 amino acids). In the present study, the vitronectin central domain was expressed as a small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) fusion protein and purified via diethylaminoethyl (DEAE) and metal chelate (Ni) affinity chromatography. Cleavage of the SUMO fusion and purification of the central domain were successfully achieved. However, the purified central domain has exhibitied substantial self-aggregative properties that were unmitigated by the presence of the SUMO fusion. Thus, while the central domain was successfully isolated, its tendency for selfaggregation limits its biochemical applications.
