TL;DR: Studies on xylan medium indicated that V. albo‐atrum produced at least three enzymes which degrade xylan, which indicated that xylanase behaved as typical endo enzyme causing first production of high mol.
Abstract: The production of xylanase in the presence of various polymeric substrates was studied. Among the polymeric substrates, xylan was the best inducer of xylanase by V. albo-atrum. Other cellulolytic enzymes such as glucanase and β-glucosidase were synthesized in smaller quantities. The process of degradation indicated that xylanase behaved as typical endo enzyme causing first production of high mol. wt. products. Studies on xylan medium indicated that V. albo-atrum produced at least three enzymes which degrade xylan.
