Journal ArticleDOI

Predicting the residual strength and deformability of corroded steel plate based on the corrosion morphology

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of corrosion on the mechanical performance of steel were investigated by conducting surface measurements and tensile tests on naturally corroded steel plates, and they found that significant degradations in strength and deformation can be observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of corrosion on surface characterization and mechanical properties of butt-welded joints

TL;DR: In this article, the changes in surface morphology and mechanical properties for carbon steel butt-welded joints by ageing in salt spray environment were investigated, the results showed that the pitting geometrical parameters of all three zones had a similar time-dependent evolution rule, namely mean pit depth, maximum pit depth and volume box parameter all increased with the increasing exposure corrosion time, while pitting aspect ratio decreased.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bond properties for deformed steel bar in frost-damaged concrete under monotonic and reversed cyclic loading

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the bond properties for deformed steel bar in frost-damaged concrete under monotonic and reversed cyclic loading and showed that the initial bond stiffness, the maximum bond resistance and the remaining bond strength decreased with increasing concrete strength.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seismic performance of reinforced concrete columns after freeze–thaw cycles

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the seismic performance of reinforced concrete columns after freeze-thaw cycles and axial compression ratios, and found that the deformation capacity and initial stiffness increased with the number of freezing and thaw cycles.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental and numerical investigation on seismic performance of corroded welded steel connections

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of neutral salt-spray corrosion damage on the seismic capacity of welded steel connections was investigated experimentally and numerically, and the results indicated that the larger value could be chosen from the beam flange corrosion and the column web corrosion to estimate the remaining ultimate bearing capacity of existing connections.
