At present, traditional visual-based surveillance systems are becoming impractical, inefficient, and time-consuming. Automation-based surveillance systems appeared to overcome these limitations. However, the automatic systems have some challenges such as occlusion and retaining images smoothly and continuously. This research proposes a weighted resampling particle filter approach for human tracking to handle these challenges. The primary functions of the proposed system are human detection, human monitoring, and camera control. We used the codebook matching algorithm to define the human region as a target and track it, and we used the practical filter algorithm to follow and extract the target information. Consequently, the obtained information was used to configure the camera control. The experiments were tested in various environments to prove the stability and performance of the proposed system based on the active camera.

An Intelligent Automatic Human Detection and Tracking System Based on Weighted Resampling Particle Filtering

In computer vision, the multiple objects tracking play a vital challenging role. To solve the issues in this research field, various traditional techniques had been developed. In this paper, we consider the problem of tracking multiple persons in a dynamic environment (background) such as illumination changes and shadow moving. Notably, i) Estimating camera motion and ii) Multiple persons tracking are the two main phases involved in our proposed approach. In the first phase, the good features were extracted using both the SIFT features extraction steps and Gaussian noise elimination method. Instead of using the conventional SIFT-based matching method, we have introduced a new fuzzy matching method to create an adaptive matching zone (region). Using this, the two corresponding features from different frames can be matched perfectly. The brightness of a matching feature of interest indicates its size. Additionally, we use the magnitude and direction of the motion for accurate elimination of camera motion. In the second phase, the persons are tracked from the moving object by finding the optimal feature points and clustering of final points are made as the moving persons (objects). Experimental validation was performed on different challenging datasets and promising results are achieved by our proposed method compared to other existing methods.

Efficient fuzzy feature matching and optimal feature points for multiple objects tracking in fixed and active camera models

This article presents the design of a novel miniaturized 2.5D frequency selective surface (FSS) for radiofrequency and microwave shielding applications is proposed. The proposed FSS is configured to offer multiple band‐stop characteristics with a wide frequency ratio. The unit cell is developed using traces that run on the top and bottom layers of the substrate with traces connected using vias. This proposed unit cell structure provides distinct operating modes at high and low frequencies. The proposed FSS unit cell has a compact geometry with a foot‐print of 0.059λo × 0.059λo where λo is the freespace wavelength. The FSS unit cell is polarization insensitive and exhibits good angular stability up to 45°. A prototype FSS is fabricated to validate the simulation results. The miniaturized FSS can be used as a shield at terrestrial frequencies and satellite frequencies making it usable for both indoor and outdoor environments.

Miniaturized multiband frequency selective surface with wide frequency ratio

An Electro Static Precipitator is a filtration device that removes airborne particles like dust and ash from polluted air using principles of induced electric charges. While electrostatic precipitators are used in all major large scale industries, their use in small scale industries is limited. This is largely because small-scale manufacturers have the lack of awareness and the unavailability of equipment for pollution control in small scale industrial standards. This paper is intended to design and construct a scaled down and economized Electrostatic Precipitator which is controlled by a smoke detector circuit. This can be installed and utilized in small scale industries as an air pollution control unit. Design procedures of a scaled down precipitator chamber with a high voltage power supply and smoke detector circuit are presented in this article. These procedures are well illustrated in a stepwise manner and contain several statistical data and expressions required for the construction of the devices. A comparison of various topologies of various units of ESPs is made and the most appropriate selection for the scaled down model is proposed.

Low Cost and Compact Electrostatic Precipitator Model Controlled by Smoke Detector

The design and characterization of a multiband THz metamaterial are reported in this article. The proposed metamaterial is constructed over the polyimide substrate embedded with a novel ring‐shaped frequency‐sensitive copper trace on the top providing the desired frequency response. The proposed metamaterial is developed from a unit cell with a base cross shape. The arms of the cross shape are deployed with three folded circular resonators providing the desired frequency‐selective property. The proposed metamaterial offers band‐stop characteristics at 0.83, 2.15, 2.91, 4.1, and 4.86 THz. The proposed unit cell metamaterial has the smallest foot‐print of 0.089λo × 0.089λo where λo is the free‐space wavelength. The electric field distribution and surface current contours are used to describe the operation of the proposed metamaterial. The proposed metamaterial has a symmetric configuration resulting in a polarization‐independent operation. The angular stability of the proposed metamaterial is investigated by subjecting the metamaterial to the various oblique incidence of THz radiation. The proposed THz metamaterial unit cell is suitable for THz imaging and spectroscopy applications.
