COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way of learning in higher education. Teaching, and learning activities that are usually carried out with face-to-face meetings have turned into virtual meetings in various online learning applications. This paper aims to analyze student essays in the form of perspectives or responses about the challenges of online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper collected fifteen students as samples in the Fundamentals of Education I course who were actively involved in online learning activities. Online learning provides various instructions led by the lecturer. Instructions can be synchronous (communication where participants interact in the same time space as video conferencing, zoom, google meet, and WebEx) or asynchronous (time-separated communication such as e-mail, google form, streaming video content, posting lecture notes and social media platforms). This study used a qualitative approach. The researcher then collecting, reading and highlights each student's response that is considered relevant for analysis. This paper has shown so many responses about the challenges experienced by the students while studying online, such as, positive and negative impact of online learning, economic conditions, anxiety during online learning, government should think and planned, the risk of user data security, face-to-face class to online learning, ability, finding effective online learning media and expectations.

The Challenges of Online Learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Essay Analysis of Performing Arts Education Students

This research study examines the attitudes of Portuguese higher education students regarding compulsory digital and distance learning university courses during the second semester of the academic year 2019–2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology was quantitative, being the undergraduate and postgraduate students surveyed to find their perceptions about distance and online education in Portugal. The findings of the study highlighted the relationship between distance and online learning. The key concern of the respondents is related to the formal and contextual dimensions of the online class regime. The values examined, taken as a whole, allow us to conclude that with this teaching regime, in terms of awareness, there is acceptance and benefit. The sense of ambiguity in which this transformation took place, as well as the climate surrounding this phase, are worth noting. The teaching and evaluation methodologies used have been embraced and show a very wide range of choices on the part of the teaching teams and the students’ various interests, just as in the teaching regime of the classroom. The fact that students feel the need for face-to-face classes, however, is of great importance for practical and laboratory classes. This reality, which is a challenge to face in the future, is hard to overcome.

Supporting students during the transition to university in COVID-19: Five key considerations and recommendations for educators

COVID-19 was first discovered in Wuhan, China on December 2019. It is one of the worst pandemics in human history. The education sector is one of the sectors most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Educators and students worldwide were forced to shift to online learning. Students, in particular, have suffered from the psychological impacts and learning difficulties caused by the lockdowns imposed by governments to control the pandemic. In this study, we used statistics and machine learning approaches to study the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on educations systems especially on university students’ psychological health. For this purpose, a questionnaire was created,which consisted of two primary parts. The first part collects the participant’s demographic and educational characteristics, while the second part gathers information about five primary dimensions: the use of digital devices, sleep habits, social communication, emotional mental state, and academic performance. The questionnaire was distributed to university students in three Arab countries: Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. A total of 1766 responses were returned and analyzed using statistical and machine learning approaches. The results showed an evident correlation between student’s psychological health and the use of online education during the time COVID-19. The results also showed that there is a positive relationship between digital tools used for online education and the academic performance of students during the time of COVID-19. Finally, the results highlighted the harmful impacts of COVID-19 on the education systems. The study ends by presenting suggestions and recommendations needed to improve the current online education system. Moreover, it is warranted for universities to have a role in helping students respond to the pandemic in a healthier psychological performance. 

A new approach in identifying the psychological impact of COVID-19 on university student’s academic performance

The Indonesian government formally enforces rules of study, worship, and work from home from March 16, 2020. Minimizing and limiting meetings involving physical contact is an effort to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These conditions have implications for the effectiveness of the learning process in higher education. The purpose of this study was to identify the impact of student psychology on online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research method uses a qualitative research type of phenomenology. The research subjects were 30 students of Mulawarman University who were interviewed via telephone. The research findings show that (1) students have started to get bored with online learning after the first two weeks of learning from home, (2) considerable anxiety on research subjects whose parents have low income, because they have to buy quotas to be able to participate in online learning, ( 3) mood or mood changes occur due to too many assignments and are considered ineffective by students. Suggestions and recommendations from this research are the need for severe efforts in assisting the psychological well-being of students through the involvement of counselors and psychologists.

Shari'a is a rule or law that is sourced from Allah Ta'ala to be a guide to human life so that it impacts on the benefit of life, both personally and socially. The Shari'a of Allah Ta'ala, everything is benefit and there is no evil, although sometimes it is considered bad by humans, but in essence is good for humans themselves. This study aims to explore the harmony of Islamic law on the benefit of humans in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak. The details are aimed at giving explanations and religious insights that are washatiyah (moderate) from a number of suggestions in the form of a prohibition or restriction by the government regarding religious activities and education carried out face to face when the Covid-19 outbreak occurred. The research method used is the library research method with a phenomenological and normative approach. The issues studied are sourced from literacy which has a relation to the focus of the research, obtained from reading turats, research results and others. The results showed that the government's prohibition on termination and restriction in religious and educational activities during the Covid-19 period, such as: restrictions on religious and educational activities carried out face-to-face, were cases permitted in the Shari'a for human benefit.

Syariat Islam dan Kemaslahatan Manusia di Era New Normal pada Kegiataan Keagamaan dan Pendidikan

Perilaku Bullying yang semakin marak dikalangan siswa mesti menjadi perhatian khusus di sekolah. Menjadi perhatian penting bagi guru dan konselor agar membuat siswa mengurangi perilaku bullying dan dapat mengerti, memahami dan menghargai orang-orang disekitarnya dan tidak seenaknya sendiri terhadap orang lain. Oleh karena itu, pentingnya konsep untuk menunjang tugas guru atau konselor dalam mengatasi bullying siswa. konsep yang diambil dalam penelitian ini yaitu konsep mawas diri dalam Kawruh Jiwa. Konsep ini menjelaskan bagaimana pemikiran dari Ki Ageng Suryomentaram dalam konteks mawas diri adalah teknik yang bisa digunakan untuk mengurangi bullying melalui tahapan mawas diri, yaitu:  (1) meneliti tanggapan rasa sendiri, (2) membangun kesadaran, (3) mengambil tindakan. Mawas secara umum mencakup sikap tidak merasa benar sendiri. Menjadi manusia tanpa ciri menurut Suryomentaram berarti mengembangkan catatan-catatan yang berdasarkan rasa bukan hanya pikir semata. Rasa terhadap apapun itu adalah pethukannya sendiri atau dirinya sendiri  dalam menemukan rasa orang lain. Jika orang tidak nyumerepi pethukan , akhirnya diri sendiri jika berhubungan dengan orang lain akan tidak mengerti dan memahami ros diri orang lain sehingga pelaku bullying terkadang bisa seenaknya sendiri jika mengolok atau mengejek teman tanpa mengerti perasaan korban bullying . Diharapkan dengan adanya konsep mawas diri dari pemikiran Ki Ageng Suryomentaram, bullying akan berkurang karena konsep ini mengajarkan kita arti intropeksi diri atau penyadaran diri dan bagaimana memahami raos atau rasa orang lain sehingga kita tidak seenaknya sendiri berkata dan melakukan perbuatan apapun kepada orang lain.

Mawas diri kawruh jiwa sebagai teknik psikoterapi untuk mengurangi bullying pada siswa

Mantra is a series of words in the form of chanting prayers and hopes containing supernatural powers used to achieve certain goals. It is considered a part of the literary work of culture and presents in various aspects of life. In Mandar, mantras are often said by spellcasters. This study tried to narrate the role of women who cast a spell (positive) in preserving the ritual traditions of religion and culture in their daily lives and their existence as spellcasters. The research adopted the ethnography method. Data were obtained through interviews, discussions, observation, participation, and documentation in the form of notes, amulets, ancient manuscripts, photographs, and some other supporting data. The research was conducted in Polewali Mandar, WestSulawesi, where many women are part of society who are still chanting spells both orally and in writing. The results showed that mantras preserve their existence as they are passed down from generation to generation to formulate the future identity of the Mandar tribe.

Migran Bugis di Samarinda hidup secara komunal dan tersebar. Identitas mereka kemudian bergeser seiring dengan pertemuan identitas lain dan perkembangan teknologi. Stigma orang bugis ‘kasar’ mencerminkan pergeseran identitas tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menafsirkan petuah bugis asera temmalaiseng (sembilan tak terpisahkan)  sebagai suatu identitas sosial orang bugis dan implikasinya terhadap konseling model KIPAS. Penelitian kualitatif gadamerian digunakan untuk menafsirkan petuah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petuah asera temmalaiseng menunjukkan identitas sosial orang bugis untuk : menghindari dua hal yaitu jangan mencela kesukaan orang lain dan jangan menghitung harta milik orang lain. Katakan satu hal ; katakan hal yang wajar yang bisa menyenangkan orang lain. Lakukan dua hal ; lakukan hal yang bisa memperbaiki orang lain dan lakukanlah sesuatu dengan prilaku yang baik dan tak tersanggah/terbantahkan. Ingat dua hal ; ingatlah kebaikan orang kepada kita dan ingatlah kesalahanmu kepada orang lain. Lupakan dua hal ; lupakan kebaikanmu kepada orang lain dan lupakan kesalahan orang lain kepada kita. Implikasi konseling model KIPAS sebagai salah satu pendekatan konseling yang mengutamakan sisi positif manusia, menegaskan bahwa dalam petuah tersebut, individu diajarkan untuk berfikir positif, bersikap positif, berkata positif, dan berperilaku positif. Sebagai salah satu tema bahasan dalam konseling model KIPAS, penelitian ini perlu dikembangkan dengan pendekatan yang lebih teknis melalui tahapan-tahapan konseling model KIPAS (Konseling Intensif Progresif Adaptif Struktural).
