CWA-solutions for data exchange settings with target dependencies
André Hernich,Nicole Schweikardt +1 more
TL;DR: The present paper extends Libkin's notion of CWA-solutions to data exchange settings with target dependencies, and it is obtained that also the EXISTENCE-OF-UNIVERSAL-SOLUTIONS problem is undecidable in genera.
Journal ArticleDOI
Closed world data exchange
TL;DR: It is shown how to define the semantics of query-answering taking into account incomplete information, and it is shown that some of the well-known anomalies go away with the new semantics.
Proceedings Article
Stable model semantics for guarded existential rules and description logics
TL;DR: This work investigates the decidability and complexity of database query answering under guarded existential rules with nonmonotonic negation according to the classical stable model semantics and considers extensions of the original formalism with negative constraints, keys, and the possibility of negated atoms in queries.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Randomized computations on large data sets: tight lower bounds
TL;DR: There exist queries in XQuery, XPath, and relational algebra, such that any (randomized) Las Vegas algorithm that evaluates these queries must perform Ω(logN) random accesses to external memory devices, provided that the internal memory size is at most O(4√N/logN), where N denotes the size of the input data.
Journal Article
Well-Founded Semantics for Extended Datalog and Ontological Reasoning.
TL;DR: It is proved that for guarded Datalog± with negation under the standard WFS, answering normal Boolean conjunctive queries is decidable, and precise complexity results for this problem are provided, namely, in particular, completeness for PTIME (resp., 2-EXPTIME) in the data (resp, combined) complexity.
