Global crustal stress pattern based on the World Stress Map database release 2008

TL;DR: The World Stress Map (WSM) project is a global compilation of information on the contemporary crustal stress field from a wide range of stress indicators as mentioned in this paper, and the WSM database release 2008 contains 21,750 stress data records that are quality-ranked using an updated and refined quality ranking scheme.
Journal ArticleDOI

African stress pattern from formal inversion of focal mechanism data

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compile 347 focal mechanism data from the Global/Harvard CMT catalogue and various other sources and grouped 332 of them in 24 distinct regions (boxes) on the basis of their geographical proximity, kinematic homogeneity and tectonic setting.
Journal ArticleDOI

Frequency sensitive moment tensor inversion for light to moderate magnitude earthquakes in eastern Africa

TL;DR: In this paper, a procedure for the routine determination of moment tensors from earthquakes with magnitudes as low as MW 4.4 using data recorded by only a few permanent seismic stations at regional to teleseismic distances is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

New constraints on the intraplate stress field of the Amurian Plate deduced from light earthquake focal mechanisms

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors determined new focal mechanisms for the Amurian plate and performed a stress inversion for selected parts of the plate in order to provide better constraints on the plate dynamics.
