Journal ArticleDOI
Antibacterial activity against cariogenic bacteria and cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of Anacardium occidentale L. and Anadenanthera macrocarpa (Benth.) Brenan extracts
Josenildo Segundo Chaves de Araújo,Aline Rogéria Freire de Castilho,Andressa Brito Lira,Andréia Vieira Pereira,Tatiane Kelly Barbosa de Azevêdo,Edja Maria Melo de Brito Costa,Maria do Socorro Vieira Pereira,Hilzeth de Luna Freire Pessôa,Jozinete Vieira Pereira +8 more
TL;DR: The A. occidentale extract has potential as an antimicrobial agent with low eukaryotic cell toxicity or mutagenic activity, and might as well be a safe and effective phytotherapeutic alternative.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis, Antibacterial Evaluation, and QSAR of Caffeic Acid Derivatives
Marianna Oliveira de Araújo,Hilzeth de Luna Freire Pessôa,Andressa Brito Lira,Yunierkis P. Castillo,Damião Pergentino de Sousa +4 more
TL;DR: Preliminary quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) analyses confirmed that certain structural characteristics, such as a median linear carbon chain and the presence of electron withdrawal substituents at the para position of the aromatic ring, help potentiate antibacterial activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
In Silico Study and Bioprospection of the Antibacterial and Antioxidant Effects of Flavone and Its Hydroxylated Derivatives
Camila de Albuquerque Montenegro,Camila de Albuquerque Montenegro,Gregório Fernandes Gonçalves,Abrahão Alves de Oliveira Filho,Andressa Brito Lira,Thays Thyara Mendes Cassiano,Natanael Teles Ramos de Lima,José Maria Barbosa-Filho,Margareth de Fátima Formiga Melo Diniz,Hilzeth de Luna Freire Pessôa +9 more
TL;DR: It was concluded that the analyzed compounds have various pharmacological activities in accordance with the predictions of PASS online, as their antibacterial and antioxidant activities were confirmed.
Journal ArticleDOI
TL;DR: The extract presented steroids, tannins, flavonoids and saponins, compounds that had already been found in other studies of this species, and presented high toxicity to A. salina, serving as a parameter for the accomplishment of later studies in animal models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isopropyl Caffeate: A Caffeic Acid Derivative-Antioxidant Potential and Toxicity.
Andressa Brito Lira,Camila de Albuquerque Montenegro,Kardilandia Mendes de Oliveira,Abrahão Alves de Oliveira Filho,Alexandre Rolim da Paz,Marianna Oliveira de Araújo,Damião Pergentino de Sousa,Cynthia Layse Ferreira de Almeida,Teresinha Gonçalves da Silva,Caliandra Maria Bezerra Luna Lima,Margareth de Fátima Formiga Melo Diniz,Hilzeth de Luna Freire Pessôa +11 more
TL;DR: The results showed that isopropyl caffeate presents no significant theoretical risk of toxicity, with likely moderate bioactivity: GPCR binding, ion channel modulation, nuclear receptor binding, and enzyme inhibition, but moderate toxicity was demonstrated through depressant effects on the central nervous system.
