A phone number only messaging experience is provided in an Inter-Carrier Short Messaging System (IC-SMS) service. Subscriber to subscriber messages are routed between carrier's networks using an Inter-Carrier messaging module with appropriate MIN/carrier/carrier routing look-up capabilities. Short messages may be sent to a subscriber in another carrier's network addressed only with a phone number. If the recipient is outside of the sender's carrier network, the Inter-Carrier messaging module of the Inter-Carrier service provider (ICSP) determines the appropriate carrier for the recipient, appends the appropriate syntax to the short message to allow internet protocol (IP) or other standardized communication techniques between SMSCs of the two carriers, and routes the short message to the destination carrier. The recipient in the other carrier's network may reply back to the ICSP's sender using only the subscriber's directory number.

A system and method for programmatically generating a graphical program or a portion of a graphical program, in response to receiving program information. The program information may specify functionality of the graphical program or graphical program portion to be generated. During execution of a graphical program generation (GPG) program, the GPG program may be operable to receive the program information. In response to the program information, the GPG program may programmatically generate a graphical program (or graphical program portion) that implements the specified functionality. Thus, the GPG program may generate different graphical programs, depending on the program information received. The GPG program may have any of various purposes or applications. In some embodiments, the GPG program may be a program or application which a user utilizes to construct or characterize a computational process. In response to the specified computational process, the GPG program may programmatically generate a graphical program to implement the computational process. In other embodiments, the GPG program may be a program or application that directly aids the user in creating a graphical program. For example, the GPG program, which in this case may be a graphical programming environment application, may be operable to receive user input specifying desired functionality and may automatically, i.e., programmatically, add a portion of graphical program code implementing the specified functionality to the user's graphical program. In other embodiments, the GPG program may be a program or application operable to automatically translate an existing program into a graphical program. In addition to these examples, a GPG program may receive any other type of information and programmatically generate a graphical program based on the received information.

System and method for programmatically generating a graphical program in response to program information

System and method for programmatically generating a second graphical program associated with a second programming development environment based on a first graphical program associated with a first programming development environment. The second graphical program may be generated programmatically, without relying on user input, or may prompt for user input to determine various options to use in generating the second graphical program. The second graphical program may implement the functionality of, or a portion of the functionality of, the first graphical program. The method preferably generates the second graphical program such that the second programming development environment is operable to treat the second graphical program identically to a graphical program interactively developed by a user using the second programming development environment. Thus, once the second graphical program has been generated, the user may use the second programming development environment to edit the second graphical program, execute the second graphical program, etc.

System and method for programmatically generating a second graphical program based on a first graphical program

A system and method for graphically debugging a computer program is disclosed (300). In a preferred embodiment, a graphical debugging environment is provided, which is capable of displaying a graphical representation of an application program to be debugged (440). Thereafter, the graphical debugging environment allows a user to insert debugging tools, such as breakpoints (430) directly into the graphical representation of the application program. Thus a user is not required to interact with the textual source code of an application program when debugging it. The graphical debugging environment (300) may display indicators illustrating where debug tools have been inserted within the application program. In a preferred embodiment, the graphical debugging environment (300) allows a user to perform debugging during an application program's runtime. Thus, a user is not required to halt an application program prior to debugging it. Also in a preferred embodiment the graphical debugging environment (300) executing on a local computer may be used to debug an application program residing on a remote computer.

Control program statements are graphically displayed as flowchart logic (42). The runtime engine (32) associated with the process control computer monitors (12) and maintains state data (65) indicating whether a program statement was executed on every pass, on at least one but not all passes. The user is thus provided with useful logic flow information (72) even though the executing program (62) may operate cyclically at a speed faster than the user can directly perceive.
