TL;DR: In this article, a mixture of thallium and cesium vapor was used for parametric mixing with radiation from a rhodamine 6G dye laser to achieve frequency conversion of cw CO2 laser radiation to the 276.8 nm ultraviolet range.
Abstract: Frequency conversion of cw CO2 laser radiation to the 276.8 nm ultraviolet range was achieved in a mixture of thallium and cesium vapor by parametric mixing with radiation from a rhodamine 6G dye laser. Two-photon resonance of the pump radiation with the 6P1/2–7P3/2 forbidden transition and the proximity of the converted radiation frequency to the frequency of the 6D3/2–7P3/2 transition in the thallium atom were utilized. Cesium vapor was used to match the refractive indices of the interacting waves.

TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental evidence of previously predicted relaxation induced parametric processes has been presented, which is connected with collisions and photon-trapping processes resulting in the difference between relaxation rates of the electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole moments of the Ne atoms in the 2s 2 -2p 1 (j = 1 → j = 0) Ne transition under λ = 1.52 μm He-Ne laser pumping.

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that with the increase of the strength of the illuminating field, the correlation between input and scattered frequencies is altered for the both processes and their distinctions are eliminated.
Abstract: Conception of multistep and multiphoton processes takes up an important place in the contemporary laser physics. Under resonant conditions their distinctions decrease and separation criteria, of these processes become of particular interest. The corresponding theory has been developed in [1]. It was shown that with the increase of the strength of illuminating field the correlation between input and scattered frequencies is altered for the both processes and their distinctions eliminated. The possibilities of Doppler-free not only two-photon absorption type but Raman-type spectroscopy due to the mentioned alteration were emphasized.
