Oxidative Stress in Neurodegenerative Diseases
Ewa Niedzielska,Irena Smaga,Maciej Gawlik,Andrzej Moniczewski,Piotr Stankowicz,Joanna Pera,Małgorzata Filip,Małgorzata Filip +7 more
TL;DR: The effects of the drug-induced modulation of oxidative balance, and pharmacotherapeutic strategies for OS reduction are analyzed, and they are explored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidative stress as an etiological factor and a potential treatment target of psychiatric disorders. Part 2. Depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and autism
Irena Smaga,Ewa Niedzielska,Maciej Gawlik,Andrzej Moniczewski,Jan Krzek,Edmund Przegaliński,Joanna Pera,Małgorzata Filip,Małgorzata Filip +8 more
TL;DR: Current knowledge on the role of the oxidative stress in psychiatric diseases is reviewed, based on clinical trials and animal studies, and the effects of drug-induced modulation of oxidative balance are analyzed and pharmacotherapeutic strategies for oxidative stress reduction are explored.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Overview of the Pharmacological Properties and Potential Applications of Natural Monoterpenes
Agata Kozioł,Agnieszka Stryjewska,Tadeusz Librowski,Kinga Sałat,Magdalena Gaweł,Andrzej Moniczewski,Stanisław Lochyński +6 more
TL;DR: These interesting activities of monoterpenes which might be potentially used not only in pharmaceutical, but also food and cosmetic industries are discussed below.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of reactive oxygen metabolites in aspirin-induced gastric damage in humans: gastroprotection by vitamin C.
Thorsten Pohle,Thomas Brzozowski,Jan C. Becker,I. R. Van Der Voort,André Markmann,Stanislaw J. Konturek,Andrzej Moniczewski,Wolfram Domschke,Jan W. Konturek +8 more
TL;DR: The role of active oxygen metabolites and anti-oxidative defenses in aspirin-induced gastric damage have been little studied as mentioned in this paper, and the effects of aspirin (400mg b.d.) with or without vitamin C (480mg bd.) for 3 days on gastric mucosa in human volunteers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in Some Rat Brain Structures and Peripheral Organs Underwent Cocaine
Lucyna Pomierny-Chamioło,Andrzej Moniczewski,Karolina Wydra,Agata Suder,Małgorzata Filip,Małgorzata Filip +5 more
TL;DR: Results indicate that repeated cocaine self-administration provoked an elevation of SOD activity in the hippocampus, frontal cortex, dorsal striatum, and liver, and after withdrawal by a yoked-triad procedure, highlighting the association between OS biomarkers in motivational processes related to voluntary cocaine intake in rats.
