Resumo: O ciclo da vida e constituido pelo nascimento, crescimento, reproducao e morte. Esses eventos sao naturais e proprios para a construcao da vida humana. Para algumas pessoas esses processos evolutivos nao seguem iguais para todos, existe uma especificidade de se colocar diante dos problemas e saber enfrenta-los e a questao primordial. A morte e vista sob diversos contextos cultural, social, familiar e vem para cada um de acordo com sua posicao frente ao mundo; o lidar pode estar definido ou causar outros comportamentos adversos. Lidar com a morte e um fenomeno sofrivel e algumas pessoas nao estao preparadas para esse enfrentamento em questoes nao definidas.Palavras-Chave: Morte, Doenca, Enfrentamento, Sofrimento Psiquico.

Hospice and palliative care: An interdisciplinary approach: Edited by Dame Cicely Saunders Published by Edward Arnold, a division of Hodder and Stoughton, London 1990, 120 pages, £8.95

Palliative care aims to fully take care and welcome patients and their families, in cases when cure of the disease is no longer possible, making use of good communication to improve quality of life. The study aimed to evaluate communication in palliative care and how it can influence the team-patient-family relationship. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, involving six participants approached at a public health hospital in Suzano, in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and were analyzed using the content analysis technique. It is concluded that proper communication is a relevant strategy for establishing a good team-patient-family relationship, however, it is necessary to identify other phenomena that are beyond the communicative skills of professionals. From a Bioethics perspective, communication stands out in healthcare and creates a bond that enables shared decisions.

Comunicação em cuidados paliativos: equipe, paciente e família

A Organizacao Mundial de Saude define cuidados paliativos como a linha de tratamento que tem por objetivo ofertar qualidade de vida para o paciente fora de possibilidades terapeuticas de cura. Tal linha de cuidado depende de uma equipe qualificada para ofertar excelencia como resultado final. O enfermeiro possui papel fundamental em todo o processo. Sendo assim, e necessario que este profissional possua um amplo conhecimento sobre sua atuacao. O objetivo geral do presente estudo foi de conhecer a producao cientifica em relacao a enfermagem acerca dos cuidados paliativos. Os objetivos especificos sao: identificar o papel do enfermeiro frente aos cuidados paliativos, elencar as principais competencias do profissional para tornar-se apto a atuacao em cuidados paliativos e verificar a importância da equipe multidisciplinar em cuidados paliativos. Trata-se se uma revisao da bibliografia de cunho integrativa, onde foi realizada uma busca em base de dados de estudos com tema pertinente a questao norteadora. Posteriormente, as respostas encontradas foram organizadas em um quadro sinoptico para que a visualizacao e interpretacao dos resultados. Observou-se a importância do trabalho do enfermeiro na equipe multidisciplinar atendendo as demandas do paciente de forma integral. O controle da dor e sofrimento, bem como a oferta de qualidade de vida, sao pontos fundamentais na oferta de cuidados paliativos. Fica claro que pesquisas integrativas abrem lacunas sobre posteriores discussoes em relacao aos dados encontrados, os quais servem como ponto de partida para posteriores estudos.

A atenção do enfermeiro ao paciente em cuidado paliativo

The objective of this study was to identify the attitude of professionals and academics in a university hospital regarding assisted suicide and euthanasia. The study was conducted using a questionnaire and included 354 participants. In cases of patients with terminal illnesses, 68.1% of participants supported the legalization of assisted suicide and 73.2% supported the legalization of euthanasia. The support for legalization of assisted suicide or euthanasia was 46.9% in cases of patients with progressive neurodegenerative diseases and 30.8% in cases of tetraplegia. In cases of terminal illnesses, if those were legalized, 45% of participants would commit assisted suicide, 57% would request euthanasia, 36.5% would aid in assisted suicide and 39.9% would aid in euthanasia. In conclusion, the great support for legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide among the participants emphasizes the need to broaden the discussion on the subject in the population.

Focusing on the relationship between spirituality and bioethics, interviews with professionals, patients and families were conducted, seeking answers to the question of the meaning of life and its relationship to suffering. It was con ­ cluded that narrative bioethics applied to palliative care can provide important input to clarify issues related to the understanding of the spiritual realm by providing analytical frameworks that take into account human beings which express, feel, say and make sense of what is said.
