Ángel Romero-Martínez,Marisol Lila,Patricia Sariñana-González,Esperanza González-Bono,Luis Moya-Albiol +4 more
TL;DR: Differences in psychobiological variables and their relationships could play a relevant role in the onset and perpetuation of violent behavior.
Journal ArticleDOI
Testosterone/cortisol ratio in response to acute stress: A possible marker of risk for marital violence
TL;DR: In IPV perpetrators, high T/C ratios were linked to better self-esteem and good mental health, and may serve as a marker to identify men at high risk of reacting violently to their partners.
Journal ArticleDOI
Childhood history of abuse and child abuse potential: The role of parent's gender and timing of childhood abuse
TL;DR: Specific variables (timing of physical abuse, parents' gender and specific socio-demographic variables), which may enable professionals to select groups of parents at greater need of participating in abuse prevention programs are targeted.
Journal ArticleDOI
The contribution of childhood parental rejection and early androgen exposure to impairments in socio-cognitive skills in intimate partner violence perpetrators with high alcohol consumption
TL;DR: Alcohol abuse plays a key role in the development of socio-cognitive impairments and in the proneness to violence and its recidivism and these findings contribute to new coadjutant violence intervention programs, focused on the rehabilitation of basic executive functions and emotional decoding processes and on the treatment of alcohol dependence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improvements in Empathy and Cognitive Flexibility after Court-Mandated Intervention Program in Intimate Partner Violence Perpetrators: The Role of Alcohol Abuse.
TL;DR: The effectiveness of the intervention program was demonstrated, with increases being observed in cognitive empathy (emotional decoding and perspective taking) and in cognitive flexibility, and guidance is provided on the targeting of cognitive domains, which are key factors for reducing IPV recidivism.
