TL;DR: A TaqMan quantitative PCR (qPCR) assay based on the translation elongation factor 1-α gene was developed and could be used to detect V. inaequalis in asymptomatic samples without any cross-reaction with other fungal species and to improve the efficacy of disease management with a timely application of fungicides.
