Journal ArticleDOI
Antihyperglycemic activity of phenolics from Pterocarpus marsupium.
TL;DR: Marsupsin and pterostilbene significantly lowered the blood glucose level of hyperglycemic rats, and the effect was comparable to that of 1,1-dimethylbiguanide (metformin).
Journal ArticleDOI
Antihyperlipidemic effect of flavonoids from Pterocarpus marsupium
TL;DR: Serum lipid levels in rats with hyperlipidemia induced by diet as well as by Triton were determined after oral administration of EtOAc extract of Pterocarpus marsupium heartwood and its flavonoid constituents, marsupsin, pterosupin, and liquiritigenin, with pterOSupin being additionally effective in lowering serum triglyceride.
Journal Article
Antiulcer activity of naturally occurring pyrano-coumarin and isocoumarins and their effect on prostanoid synthesis using human colonic mucosa.
TL;DR: The results suggest that gastroprotective effects of bergenin and norbergenin could be due to increased prostaglandin production while, some other mucosal defensive factors may be involved for luvangetin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structures of cleomiscosins, coumarinolignoids of cleome viscosa seeds
Anil B. Ray,Sunil K. Chattopadhyay,Sandeep Kumar,Chohachi Konno,Yoshinobu Kiso,Hiroshi Hikino +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the structures of cleomiscosins A, B and C, three new coumarino-lignoids isolated from the seeds of Cleome viscosa Linne, were established as 1a, 2a and 1f irrespectively, on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence.
Book ChapterDOI
Withasteroids, a Growing Group of Naturally Occurring Steroidal Lactones
Anil B. Ray,Mohini Gupta +1 more
TL;DR: Withasteroids are a group of naturally occurring C28-steroidal lactones built on an intact or rearranged ergostane framework and there are many novel structural variants of withanolides with modifications either of the carbocyclic skeleton or of the side chain and these have often been described as modified withanolide-type steroids related towithanolides.
