Cognitive model of digital production development

Purpose of the study: This study tried to examine the level of awareness and vision of prospects for the development of quality management and its corresponding systems in the era of transition to the technologies and principles of Industry 4.0 among quality management professionals of Russian companies.
Methodology: The study is based on the survey conducted in April - May 2019 among the expert community in the field of quality management. A total of 50 experts from Russian industrial and service companies participated in the survey. The survey was organized in accordance with the stages of 'the Deming Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle. The data analyzed by using the Spearman correlation to determine the relationship between the understanding of current priority and anticipation of future changes in quality management concepts, principles, and tools in the era of Industry 4.0.
Main Findings: The survey results show how innovative quality management methods can be applied practically with relevance to 4th industrial revolution technologies. The authors conclude that the changes in the core concepts of quality management are necessary for the Industry 4.0 era and offer a 4.0 quality definition through the revision of quality management principles.
Applications of the study: The finding of this study is useful for the development of a digital transformation strategy of the business companies by showing the correlation between quality management principles awareness and implementation of digital tools. The study shows the necessity to offer interdisciplinary training for quality management professional and IT specialists on the digital transformation of quality management.
Novelty/Originality of the study: The originality is in the design of the survey that covered issues that haven't been studied in correlation with each other before the influence of Industry 4.0 tools and key provisions on quality management and development strategy of the company. In the survey, the perception of new quality management principles was investigated for the first time.

The perspective of quality management system development in the era of industry 4.0

Article history: Received April 20, 2020 Received in revised format April 20, 2020 Accepted May 25 2020 Available online May 25 2020 The slowdown in globalization preceded by the 2008–2009 financial crisis and accompanied by stagnation in cross-border flows of goods and investments ignited the scientific debate about globalization shutting down. This paper assesses globalization on the basis of the observed flows of investment, data, population and trade for the period of 1998–2018. To do so, we propose the Index of Globalization (IG) that allowed us to highlight the key trends in the global economic development. Our assessments show that there was a sustained decline in the trade and investment components of globalization. The information flow demonstrates a slowdown in developed economies, but its growth rate remains stably high. The IG dynamics indicates a significant decrease in times of crises. In contrast to the 2008–2009 financial crisis and the outbreak of SARS in 2003, the COVID-19 pandemic has already caused a more considerable reduction in international flows of factors of production and global GDP. The changes in society behavior adopted during the COVID-19 spread are forecast to have long-term consequences. In terms of globalization, the pandemic has positively affected the dynamics of the information flow by increasing volumes of Internet traffic and intensifying the use of communications. The research results demonstrate that in the case of a significant slowdown in the trade, investment and population flows, an increase in the information flow will not have a substantial impact on globalization processes and will be unable to break the overall trend towards a decline in the Index of Globalization. . 2020 by the authors; license Growing Science, Canada ©

Globalization dynamics in times of crisis

This work analyses methods of digital model development and uses electronics production as an example. It focuses on the analysis of the visual tools of a digital manufacturing system design. The digital model development process is divided into a sequence of tasks, to solve which a number of models, methods and tools is proposed. These procedures can be used to perform simulation modelling, performance prediction, promising option selection, parameters optimisation of both the device itself and its manufacturing mechanisms along with other lifecycle components, without the expensive sample tests, field tests or introduction of any changes to the already established manufacturing, selling, service and other infrastructures. Digitalisation aspects are covered by creating interrelated digital models of the device and the digital manufacturing process model that take all the technical and economic aspects into account. This approach, called Digital Twin (of the actual production), underlies the modern Industry 4.0 concept that suggests the introduction of different cyber-physical systems in the manufacturing systems. The proposed method of the visual system design uses a complex of software tools to produce digital system models of an electronics manufacturing system. The resulting digital twin of the actual manufacturing is representative of both the produced device and its manufacturing process design features. And it can be used for preparation, analysis and manufacturing improvement purposes.

Industry 4.0 Visual Tools for Digital Twin System Design

Educational institutions have the right to independently determine the paths of their development, the methods and goals of their achievement, which made them full-fledged subjects of a market economy. The public’s demands for the quality of education have increased, the technological side of education has been radically updated, the economic and organizational conditions of their activities are changing rapidly, competition in the educational services market is growing, and the state’s attitude towards the education system is steadily changing. Increasing the freedom and independence of educational institutions has led to an increase in their responsibility for the results of their activities. The transformation of the working conditions of the educational services market in the current conditions of socio-economic development of the Russian Federation actualizes issues that are closely related to risk management in educational institutions, because an increase in the independence of educational institutions entails an increase in managerial and, in particular, financial risks for erroneous decisions . In this regard, there is a need to search for effective risk management mechanisms, especially since today there is no universally recognized theoretical approach to the issue of risk management in the field of education.

Risk management at educational institution

The present article presents an approach to evaluating the transformation of the industrial complex in the context of deep penetration of digital technologies into the material sector of the economy. The authors propose a theoretical research platform based on the theory of a new industrial society, substantiate a methodology, which comprises reproduction, institutional and synergetic approaches. The study showed that the transformation of the industrial complex, caused by any factors and implemented in any conditions, is always a discrete process of qualitative changes, resulting in significant structural changes and institutional transformations. The authors proposed a methodology to define the stages of industrial complex transformation in a digital economy. The authors’ model of the digitization process consists of five stages – primary information and communication digitization; electronic data exchange with external partners; use of specialized software; electronic data exchange with external partners. Within this framework, an empirical analysis was carried out to determine the digitization level of the industrial complex of Russia that implies a sufficiently high degree of primary computerization, the involvement of the industrial enterprises in the “digital” communication with counterparties and the dynamic software development. The study shows that the process of digital transformation of the Russian industry is still in its formative stages.
