Journal ArticleDOI
Sympathetic Neural Overdrive in the Obese and Overweight State.
Guido Grassi,Annalisa Biffi,Gino Seravalle,Fosca Quarti Trevano,Raffaella Dell'Oro,Giovanni Corrao,Giuseppe Mancia +6 more
TL;DR: Obesity and overweight are characterized by sympathetic overactivity which mirrors the severity of the clinical condition and reflects metabolic alterations, with the exclusion of glucose/insulin profile.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of antidepressants and the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease: a meta-analysis of observational studies
TL;DR: The results of this meta-analysis have to be taken with caution because even though an increased risk of cerebrovascular and acute heart disease was observed respectively in SSRIs and TCA users, the estimates are characterized by a high between study heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiovascular Outcomes and Mortality Associated With Discontinuing Statins in Older Patients Receiving Polypharmacy.
Federico Rea,Annalisa Biffi,Raffaella Ronco,Matteo Franchi,Simona Cammarota,Anna Citarella,Valeria Conti,Amelia Filippelli,Amelia Filippelli,Carmine Sellitto,Carmine Sellitto,Giovanni Corrao +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors assess the clinical implications of discontinuing the use of statins while maintaining other drugs in a cohort of older patients receiving polypharmacy and find that discontinuing statins was associated with an increase in the long-term risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular outcomes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sex differences in the adherence of antihypertensive drugs: a systematic review with meta-analyses
Annalisa Biffi,Federico Rea,Teresa Iannaccone,Teresa Iannaccone,Amelia Filippelli,Amelia Filippelli,Giuseppe Mancia,Giovanni Corrao +7 more
TL;DR: Definitive evidence of sex differences in adherence to AHT therapy cannot be drawn, and little knowledge about factors affecting adherence, in particular of sex effect among elderly, urgently requires high-quality studies investigating these issues.
Journal ArticleDOI
Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) in patients with major trauma and uncontrolled haemorrhagic shock: a systematic review with meta-analysis
Greta Castellini,Silvia Gianola,Annalisa Biffi,Gloria Porcu,Andrea Fabbri,Maria Pia Ruggieri,Carlo Coniglio,Antonello Napoletano,Daniela Coclite,Daniela D'Angelo,Alice Fauci,Laura Iacorossi,Roberto Latina,Katia Salomone,Shailvi Gupta,Primiano Iannone,Osvaldo Chiara +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors conducted a systematic review assessing the clinical efficacy and safety of Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Aorta (REBOA) in patients with non-compressible torso injuries and uncontrolled haemorrhagic shock.
