Dengue viruses - an overview.
TL;DR: A fundamental knowledge gap still remains to be filled regarding host cell tropism, crucial host immune response mechanisms, and viral markers for virulence in dengue viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Life-long shedding of Puumala hantavirus in wild bank voles (Myodes glareolus).
Liina Voutilainen,Tarja Sironen,Elina Tonteri,Anne Tuiskunen Bäck,Maria Razzauti,Malin Karlsson,Maria Wahlström,Jukka Niemimaa,Heikki Henttonen,Åke Lundkvist +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the shedding patterns and viraemia in the reservoir host species is a key factor in assessing the human risk of zoonotic viruses, and the shedding of hantaviruses (family Bunyavirida...
Life-long shedding of Puumala hantavirus in wild bank voles
Liina Voutilainen,Tarja Sironen,Elina Tonteri,Anne Tuiskunen Bäck,Maria Razzauti,Malin Karlsson,Maria Wahlström,Jukka Niemimaa,Heikki Henttonen,Åke Lundkvist +9 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the kinetics of pathogens in wild hosts may differ considerably from those observed in laboratory settings, and suggest the life-long shedding as a means of hantaviruses to survive over host population bottlenecks, and to disperse in fragmented habitats where local host and/or virus populations face temporary extinctions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extensive Spinal Epidural Hematoma as the Cause of Postpartum Headache and Neck Pain After Epidural Anesthesia: a Case-Based Report
TL;DR: In this article , a 36-year-old Caucasian female with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) presented to the emergency department approximately 48 h after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acute Myocarditis Caused by Francisella tularensis: a Case Report
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors described a case of acute myocarditis caused by the intracellular bacterium Francisella tularensis, which was verified with positive serology.
