Variation in soil properties and crop yield across an eroded prairie landscape

TL;DR: In this article, the results indicated that the observed variation in crop yield in undulating landscapes may be significantly influenced by removal of topsoil through repeated intensive tillage, and point to opportunities for landscape restoration to reduce yield losses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Detection of Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Source and Drinking Water Samples from a First Nations Community in Canada.

TL;DR: The issue of poor water quality in First Nations communities in Canada is often ignored, and the findings will help shed some light on this important issue.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tillage and water erosion on different landscapes in the northern North American Great Plains evaluated using 137Cs technique and soil erosion models

TL;DR: In this article, two field sites, representing different landscapes in the northern region of the North American Great Plains, were examined and water and tillage erosions were estimated using the established water and tilage erosion models and total soil erosion was estimated using 137 Cs technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

Importance of Soil Organic Matter Fractions in Soil-Landscape and Regional Assessments of Pesticide Sorption and Leaching in Soil

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a review of laboratory studies and discuss their importance to the development of agricultural policy frameworks, which can be used to assess the environmental performance and risks associated with agricultural systems.
