TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper found that online fan engagement exerted a significant and positive effect on celebrity worship and program commitment; celebrity worship positively impacted program commitment, and the prompts ability, personality, and facial attractiveness positively impacted online fan activity.

Finding love in online games: Social interaction, parasocial phenomenon, and in-game purchase intention of female game players

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper used structural equation modeling to understand female players' emotional psychology and interactive behaviors in otome games and found that social anxiety and real-life interaction had positive effects on parasocial interaction (PSI), real life interaction had negative effect on romantic PSI, and online social interaction had a positive effect on PSI.
