An automotive door interior assembly has an interior door trim panel with a plurality of bosses extending therefrom having sections of varying wall thickness for allowing energy absorption through columnar deformation of the bosses. The bosses comprise conically shaped, hollow pedestals having a first end attached to the trim panel, a second truncated end opposite the first end, a wall connecting the first end and the second end, and an inner surface on the wall having at least one groove thereon. Connectors on the second truncated end of the bosses attach the trim panel to receiving apertures in the inner door panel.

At least one functional assembly is mountable in either of a first of the mounting spaces located on a left-hand drive side of a center plane of the firewall or a second of the mounting spaces located on a right-hand drive side of the center plane of the firewall. At least one module containing electronic control devices is mounted in the firewall such that an outside contour thereof is located laterally outside of the first and second mounting spaces.

A deformable vehicle door pull cup is provided which is both sufficiently strong for use during closing of the door and which also deforms during a side impact collision. A deformable vehicle door pull cup includes a weakening groove and dimple system in preferred embodiments. Dimples are placed within grooves to enhance crack propagation in a side impact collision.

The armrest (1) moves at right angles to its fastening surface, when subjected to pressure. It has a full-length structure (6,9), which is elastic at least under pressure. Rigidity is dimensioned, so that under a correspondingly high pressure, a deformation of the armrest takes place, so that a surface is formed, which is approx. flush with the fastening surface (13). The armrest has hinges or full-length rated breaking lines (9) on the inside (7). The lines are stepped relative to a hollow chamber (10), so that the armrest is telescopically moved at right angles to the fastening surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Armrest in vehicle is of simple construction, and undergoes targetted deformation under pressure, otherwise is sufficiently rigid.

The motor vehicle body has a dashboard wall between front body and passenger cell. The wall has two engine supports at relative distance, and extending in longitudinal direction of the vehicle, and a scuttle-dash. This is located under the windscreen, and extends across the width of the vehicle. Also fastened to the dashboard wall (2) is an X-shaped support (14). This connects the engine supports (4,5) to the scuttle-dash (7). The X-shaped support consists of a one-piece saucer-shaped formed sheet metal part. It is symmetrical, and has at least two arms (17-20), each of these with a U-shaped profile. The X-support also has a surface (39,40) for fastening of a steering column. USE/ADVANTAGE - Motor vehicle body structure with increased torsion resistance, does not rattle.
