Journal ArticleDOI

Endotracheal tube cuff pressure in three hospitals, and the volume required to produce an appropriate cuff pressure

TL;DR: Although it varied considerably, the amount of air required to achieve a cuff pressure of 20 cmH2O was similar with each tube size, and it is recommended that ET cuff pressure be set and monitored with a manometer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Magnesium sulphate only slightly reduces the shivering threshold in humans

TL;DR: Magnesium significantly reduced the shivering threshold, but in view of the modest absolute reduction, this finding is considered to be clinically unimportant for induction of therapeutic hypothermia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultrasound quantification of anterior soft tissue thickness fails to predict difficult laryngoscopy in obese patients.

TL;DR: It is concluded that the thickness of pretracheal soft tissue at the level of the vocal cords is not a good predictor of difficult laryngoscopy in obese patients in the United States.
Journal ArticleDOI

The new perilaryngeal airway (CobraPLA) is as efficient as the laryngeal mask airway (LMA) but provides better airway sealing pressures.

TL;DR: The CobraPLA has insertion characteristics similar to the LMA but better airway sealing capabilities, and patient characteristics, insertion times, airway adequacy, number of repositioning attempts, and recovery were similar in each group.
