A vehicle may be configured to determine a characteristic of a software program operating on the vehicle. The characteristic may be provided to an insurer, and the insurer may determine a property of an insurance policy based on the characteristic. The characteristic may be, for example, a feature, a setting, and/or a version of the software program. The insurer may indicate to a vehicle operator and/or owner how changing the characteristic may affect the property of the insurance policy. The insurance policy may be formalized and agreed to by the insurer and/or the insured. The vehicle may also or instead save pre-collision status data, such adjustable parameters, internal variables, dynamic decisions, and/or identification of a software program, when a collision is detected. The pre-collision status data may be used to diagnose problems with the software program, determine fault, and/or determine future properties of insurance policies.

An interactive, multi-user media delivery system having a number of media storage mediums, each of containing a particular media selection, and a number of media players structured to selectively deliver the media selection to users. Techniques are described for generating a license for software installed on a device. An entitlement certificate is generated including one or more entitlements describing license characteristics of the software. The one or more entitlements are determined in accordance with first information about the software. The first information includes at least one of a purchase token and package information. A binding certificate in accordance with a binding type for the software is generated. A license in accordance with said binding certificate and said entitlement certificate is generated. The binding certificate identifies an entity to which the license is bound.

Activation system architecture

A method and system for selectively supplying media content to a user includes a first media storage device acquired by the user from a media content provider. The storage device includes first media content and information related to second media content, both of which are preferably accessible from the storage device immediately upon acquisition. After the user has reviewed the storage device's contents, the content provider receives a request from the user (e.g., at a website server) to obtain the second media content. Responsive to the request, the content provider selectively provides the user electronic access to the second media content without providing the user a second media storage device. For example, the content provider may provide the user an access code that allows the user to unlock the second media content from the first media storage device, which content was preferably prestored thereon in encrypted or another locked form.
